Actually he was the only one keeping the entire Man City backline on their feet. Di Matteo did the gravest mistake subbing him off and putting Drogba on. My only question if he had a choice really... but that's another matter. Maybe we were watching different games, but on my screen it seemed that Torres was about the best player Chelsea had in attack.

:p Hhehehe, I could only dream of. They are getting millions for playing FM in life- not a bad job. Especially considering how laboring the job of the mega-agent seems to be.

Originale ... what about you?

All Torres did was run around chasing passes he couldn't get to. Drogba could have done the same thing. And that whole Chelsea attack was ass

Asamoah,Astori\Hummels:)tuttosport:) Jojo, Immobile, Pogba and Dzeko\Other decent striker priced 'round 25mil.
And THAT would be an epic mercato
not happening.

we have no need to buy another starting midfielder, pogba im not too fussed about but again no need for more midfielders when we have the likes of Marrone, and possibly appelt and buoy to look out for, as for signing 2 big name forwards? not happening neither, unless we can secure one of them on loan with option to buy which i have my doubts about anyways

"All Torres did was run around chasing passes he couldn't get to" ... possibly, but was forcing City on their backfoot and was a thread. Not to mention the sheer workrate and stamina on display.
"Drogba could have done the same thing." - Could he? Why didn't?
"And that whole Chelsea attack was ass" - to an extent agreed.

Yeaaa...we're going to need another quality midfielder to cover Vidal\Cheesio\Pirlo. The three youngster could cover them but we will notice a severe drop in quality. Asamaoah would be perfect IMO, he can cover for both Cheesio and Vidal and even threaten them for their position. It's healthy competition that can probably get the best out of them all. Asamoah and\or Sahin would make our midfield trio flawless. You can't just rely on three players throughout the entire season for your mid, you're going to need players that can step in for them that are more or less as good as the starters.

so lets spend 15+ mill on a midfielder like asamoah willing to sit on our bench? great idea!...

again it brings me back to marrone, isnt he someone of decent quality? he seems to be highly rated amongst many here

We'll be in THREE competitions. There WILL be MULTIPLE cards, and possibly injuries. Players (Cheesio\Vidal) will eventually have a slump in form. It's best to have a GOOD midfielder in our midfielder in our bench none of that GIach\Padoin\Paz bullshit! We need QUALITY! And Asamoah is quality. He won't necessarely be on the bench, Conte could possibly accommodate him and come up with a rotational system. And besides having a midfielder like Asamoah breathing down your neck in the pecking order will be very good for Cheesio\Vidal that probably have taken their position for granted by now since they have been indispensable this season.

He got the bal maybe once a twice? Even when Torres was playing City was dominating, it was only a matter of time before a goal came. While I do agree that Di Matteo should have left him in (he was in the zone) Drogba wasn't a game changing decision. I would have preferred that Mata came off and Drogba came on

that still hasn't answered my question about the likes of marrone? what do we do with him? loan him out and let us bitch and whine about how we arn't utilising our youth because the same fans also want us to spend a hefty some on another midfielder? you and i know we don't have that kind of money to spash on 1 position, especially since we have other areas of greater concern, i'd sooner bring in the likes of appelt, marrone and probably buoy for competitions like the coppa, not to forget with what we already have in the form of giaccherini, love him or hate him he is sufficient to play in domestic competitions as proven this season, there is no justification in spending ridiculous money on an area that is already well covered now and for the future. If you think otherwise, then whats the bloody point of having a youth system?

Verratti, Marrone, Padoin, Giaccherini and Pazienza as sub players doesn't seem too bad to me.

We must focus on a quality forward.

agreed, although i don't think we will keep pazienza. As far as im concerned the rest are good enough deputies exception of verratti as i dont know too much about him, but my point is we have more than enough depth in midfield, last thing we want to do is spend money on another quality midfielder if there is going to be one that won't play each time, where that quality could be transfered into other areas of the pitch.

its very simple, you can either buy a quality midfielder, and one of marchisio/pirlo/vidal/xx will sit on the bench, or!

use that money to instead buy a quality forward who will start every time and make a bigger difference

With Coppa and CL he'll get to play a lot.

We also spended 9M for Caceres as a back-up defender while alread having Bonucci.

Fernandinho could solve all our problems.
caceres was a necessary aquisition though, especially if we lose lichtsteiner being unavailable for whatever reasons, and as recently shown when our other defenders are injured/suspended.

You're right that we need a FW more than another CM. But the lack of quality CM's on the bench will hurt us sooner or later during the next season, just like you I'd love to see our youth product succeed with us...but can they cover for Cheesio\Vidal\Pirlo? I highly doubt it.

People are saying Verratti can immediately be the alternative to Pirlo, and would fit right in. We have Padoin to cover Vidal, and Giaccherini to cover Marchisio. We also have Pazienza who could cover all three of those positions - every time Pazienza has played he has played well.

I know what you mean, our midfield alternatives don't seem the best but we must make it work. We need forwards more than midfielders right now. And we definitely need one more CB.
