It not always that easy to measure the bearing the quality of a league has on the success of a player. There are other players in leagues of similar quality getting similar statistics but getting much less attention. So I guess the hype on Shaqiri comes down to the nature of those assists and goals. Watch him and make your judgement. Its pretty clear that he's a gifted player and that he was able to perform so well against Man U is testimony to that.

I've seen him several times now including against England, where he impressed against strong opponents you could say. True he plays in the strongest team but we're strong too. If that is a factor he should flourish even more here (hypothetically speaking). No doubt and really it will depend on how he is developed in the next few years which will decide whether he reaches his potential or not.
