Ho visto Del Piero

i just got back from juve vs sporting lisbon game here in toronto, and oh man, we still got problems. i was convinced that we dont need rossi or another striker but im starting to believe we do. matri and quag are too similar and although del piero scored an amazing chip from outside the box, he cant last the full game. and toni is useless now, lets be honest. chiellini was the only steady one in defence but lichsteiner and ziegler looked alright. but marchisio does not belong on the left, he barely sees the ball and seems out of his element but pirlo played well in the centre and he should team up well with vidal however marchisio belongs in the middle and get vargas or bastos because we have no speed on the left. we lost the game 2-1 and our youngsters played better than our actual team. the only positives were that i learned that a young "de silvestro" looks very promising and our away pink jerseys actually look amazing. i know its only a friendly and the first game, but our team desperatly needs more quality if we want to contend for anything next season.

After seeing De Silvestre, I'm more inclined to want a much more attacking LW than vargas/bastos. One that is lazy at tracking back.

Marin? Mata? Elia?

Damn, just watching Sanchez and Aguero and their style of football, we could have needed those type of players so bad. How the hell did we let them go just like that? We've finished 7th twice and we have money and this year there is only 3 spots to the CL.

:agree:
The absence of European football, the lack of ambition shown over the past few seasons and the fact that we are not in a position to compete financially with the likes of Shitty/Real are not helping us. Sanchez/Aguero are two players that would've made a huge impact in this club IMO. Sanchez is gone and i don't think Aguero would come(still hoping for a miracle).

How much money have we spent so far in this Mercato - more important - how much is left?

There is no doubt that we need at least 1 very good winger, if we want to compete for 3rd next year.

Depending on how much we can spend, we need someone like Bastos.. I am not a fan of his though.

Now, if we want to SECURE 3rd, we need at least, someone equal or better than Bastos, a backup, a new SS - Rossi would do, but Aguero better of course AND a new wonderkid og WC CB - Ivanovic/Sakho.

SOOO.. If our board has ambition and enough budget left, our starting 11 should look like this at least if we can be confident to secure 3rd:

Buffon
Lichensteiner - Ivanovic - Chiellini - Ziegler
Krasic - Vidal - Pirlo - Bastos
Matri - Rossi

Our weakness is LB, I'm not sure if Ziegler is very solid if at all.

Bastos €12m
Rossi ~ €28m
Ivanovic/top CB ~ €15m
------------------
Total €55m

Surely we wouldn't have to pay all of it upfront...

Out of the 3 biggest problems of the last few years 2 problems still remain
While we have Lichtsteiner for the RB role we haven`t fixed our other problems CB and LW
The CB problem- Bonucci is only good enough as a sub! the same goes for Barzagli!
We need a top CB and fast. Many blame our defensive problems last year solely on our fullbacks but I think its wrong to do so as Bonucci has to be blamed as much as the fullbacks
If we get a top CB our defence would look much better you wouldnt recognize it!

The 2nd problem is the LW position- Here we have a different kind of problem at the CB position we had CB who are not good enough. At the LW position we dont have anyone for that role put aside Pepe who sucks in that role and should be used in a more defensive role IMO. What do we do?! We put Marchisio who clearly isnt a winger in that role. The result- embaracement both for the player and the club. Marchisio is not a winger therefore we play with 1 winger which is not exactly a formation therefore it damages the team odds of winning. It also damages the player in its value and in its contribution- I see Marchisio as the Paul Scholes kind of player a player that can give a lot to a club if being used right (not neccesairly a WC player). I think Marchisio has shown a glimpse of his talent here and then like his goal against Inter, and I think he is capable of more of the same if being used as should. He should be our super sub/rotation player in midfield

I think it is question of money.

We have no enough funds to cover left midfielder, central back (Conte asked for it) and striker.

I still dont see we need Rossi...
