Yeah I think it's wrong that it's been decided from a purely statisitcal point of view (EL & CL). But I reckon we'll have the 4 places back soon and MAYBE even over take Spain in the next 3+ years as a lot of Serie A teams seem to be getting stronger. Napoli, Lazio, Udinese, Roma, Inter, AC & Juve are all fairly strong teams and I hope they all get better (except merda - Serie C1 please!). I think Genoa and Fiorentina especially have the ability to challenge for 5-7th spots and really should be doing so. The more competitive Serie A is the better the teams will be and that therefore should yield better results in Europe. It's a shame about Samp as they were playing in CL and then were relegated.
If Samp weren't relegated and still strong and Genoa & Fiorentina were playing better, that would have been 10 teams fighting for european places this season. Definitely more than Spain - Real, Barca, Villareal, Valencia & Sevilla, Atletico are really the ones capable of winning things in Europe. That's 5 teams, compared to Italy's 7-8+, although having the strongest and third strongest teams in Europe will help La Liga a lot especially as they are able to win the CL and that will probably keep us as the 3rd strongest league. I can't see any German teams winning EL or CL. All Bundesliga teams besides Bayern can't and won't be able to win the CL (Schalke won't ever get to the semis again). The teams from fifth onwards I'm assuming will be too weak to win the EL. We have three (maybe more) teams capable of winning the CL: Milan, Juve (in time
) and merda (through cheating). As long as Serie A teams try harder in EL we will have the four places back.
