Am I the only one who feels like this mercato isn't making us THAT much better? Surely, a team that finishes 7th twice in a row, you'd they'd be making big changes. So far, we've gotten Lichtsteiner which I like. But Ziegler is meh and we're following Vidal who I have no idea why we want since we're playing with two central midfielders anyway. I feel like they still think this squad is good enough although it has been clear that many of our players, even our starters, are not the ones that will take us to the top. Get me a quality fullback like Cissokho, get me someone like Mata or Cazorla, not a limited wingback in Bastos. Spend some money god damn it. I don't know how to explain it, but I don't think we're becoming that much better than last season. The players we've brought and we're aiming to bring will make us slighty better and our big signing who'll likely be Rossi isn't going to have that big of an impact on our crooked game. Overall the squad is still average and I think this 4-4-2/4-2-4 is limiting us in the transfer market.

I agree with you Suns, just look at our roster, and tell me who are the players who would start for the like of Barca, Real, Man U, Inter, Milan ...
2, 3 players tops.
I still agree with what buffon said, there are 6 teams ahead of us, and it doesn't look like we are trying to overcome this.

Its not just that, this mercato hasn't been mindblowing so far and the players that we're linked with are nothing to be excited about either. Sure, we'll get better but it won't be that much better which is exactly what we need right now because we've been absolutely pathetic the last two seasons. Bastos, Vidal and Rossi. Bastos is a wingback, Vidal is not needed and Rossi who is suppose to be our star signing won't have that big of an impact on our game. If it was for example Cazorla, Diarra and Aguero that difference would have been so much bigger. We'd get a great offensive winger in Cazorla, a quality central midfielder in Diarra who would do Pirlo's dirty work and Aguero who is such a talent and his ability would change this team.

:agree:  couldn't said it better. with this team and the signing we expected to make, we won't finish top 3. Inter, Milan, Napoli, and you could Argue for Lazio are all better than us.

If Aguero isn't interested in coming to Juve, his most realistic options are Real Madrid and Manchester City. What Juventus should do is to make the most of this and put in a cheeky bid for Higuain. Having a solid offer for Higuain may tempt Real Madrid into selling him and buying Aguero to replace him. It'd be a fantastic deal for Juve. Higuain can play along with Matri in the 4-4-2 and also play right or left forward in 4-3-3 to accommodate Pirlo in the starting line-up.

Gago is another player who could possibly be tempted away from the Bernabeu. He plays great with another CM alongside him in midfield, like when Ruben de la Red was partnering him. I'm thinking Gago and Marchisio (or maybe Melo too) would be an excellent pairing. The first team would be strong enough to compete with Milan and Inter for the Scudetto easily.

Higuain - 25m Euros
Gago - 15m euros
Bastos - 13m Euros
Perotti - 10m Euros

Higuain --- Matri
Bastos -------------------- Krasic
Marchisio ---- Gago
Lichsteiner --- Chiellini --- Bonucci --- Ziegler

You want to hear something really funny?

A couple of guys called Stefano Sgarlatta and Silvio Trevisan from a company called Depevent are here in my country Costa Rica trying to buy our most promising youngster called Joel Campbell (play in the NT in the Copa America) and telling him that they want to put him in Juventus, and that they... and here is the funny part... garantee him that he will be in the Juventus First team and that will not be loan out...

We cannot get the top top players at present, we really don't have anything to offer them at the current time, not alot of players care about history, and we won't break the bank to try and sign the top top players, even if they did want to come and play for us. So we have to settle for the next rung down, if we get Juan, Vidal, Bastos & Rossi, along with what we have, that's a better team than the Napoli team that finished 3rd last season imo, more than good enough for a top 3 finish this term.

It's not necessary to buy top, top players. Juventus can target the best of the rest and still make a hell of a team that can compete for top 3 positions in Serie A and also compete for final stages of CL every year. The key is to buy quality and to identify the right players for a chosen formation (as well as plan B). Then, give those quality players the time and support needed. Also need a good coach (not a diss on Conte).

If Juve cannot give top, top salaries and cannot offer champions league football, it's not the end of the world. The club still pays good salaries but may need to give players lots of interest and plenty of support in all areas, more than other clubs do. Soon, Juve also has the new stadium to be proud of.

Examples:
1. Higuain
2. Bastos
3. Gago
4. Vidal
5. Danilo
6. Perotti
7. Juan

Other transfer target examples I feel the club should be looking at for 2012-13.

1. Luka Modric - He is worth 35me and a valuable player if Juve can make CL next year
2. Drenthe - LW backup
3. Luis Enrique (Newcastle)
4. Tremoulinas (Bordeaux)
5. Danilo - Porto may buy him for 10me.
6. Ivanovic - may be possible if we sell him first team football as a center back starter.

Tremoulinas - LB, would cost too much
