im going to play this name out in the open, but what do you guys think about newcastle's tiote? i've been an admirer for some months now, and he looks as though he would pose a much more realistic option in replacing melo, rather than to go for diarra, just a thought though.

We asked about Ivanovic, AVB don't want him, want some one else for right back.
Marotta is a very good freind with his agent, same agent as krasic.
If he's getting sold, we'll try to get him.
He won't go.

would be a very good move for Juve ... and probably won't be too expensive either.
You sure? His contract runs till 2016 (renewed earlier this year) and he earns more than Buffon iirc.

true, but unfortunately it seems inevitable that he is leaving, so i was thinking of some possible names that would be a suitable replacement
Is it inevitable Melo will leave?

I thought at the end of the season it was pretty much certain he'd be out, but there has been so little suggestion of interest from other clubs that I wonder if he won't end end up staying.

Melo looks all set to start the season with us. Plus there isn't much concrete rumour that he is leaving can't see any of the big clubs coming in for him as well. Man U seems to almost complete Sneider's capture and if Nani is not part of the deal, maybe we can strike a deal for him. They will need to sell after all these spending's.

...

you sure? :p ... As good as Ivanovic is, he is not a fundamental player for them and for much of his time there was more of a bench player than a sure starter, at least initially. Even after he began to start more regularly and eventually became a 1st team regular, he was always one of the first to be left out if there was to be a tactical change or something.
Not saying he is not a good player, but he is not as important to the team as Terry, Lampard, Essien, Drogba, who have been Chelsea's truly irreplaceable players ... and the ones, who are surely getting paid better than Buffon.

Chelsea at one point were even looking to offload Ivcanovic, hence those links to Milan and Juve, and then they waited almost till the end of his old contract before they offered him extension - you just don't do this with indispensable players, who are the ones to cost a lot in transfer fees and command thru-the-roof salaries.

I tried looking for info on Ivanovic's salary and all I could find was that he was being paid ~3.5 mil (euros) which sounds about right, considering the above, and is likely well within Juve's budget.

Anyways, when I said he was not going to be overly expensive, I was referring mainly to the transfer fee and that is determined by the market, hype around the player and his current club's desire to keep him ... virtually all of the above factors, provided AVB is indeed looking to offload Ivanovic, are in favor of a relatively low transfer fee of around 15 mil, and even less than that if Juve prep the player and make him "want only Juve and no other team", which would give them leverage in the negotiations.

Milan's deal for Ibra was possible mainly due to Barca's desire to get rid of him, and his desire to go to Milan only ... you have these two, you have a great advantage in a negotiation.

Now, all that's left is to see how much Juve wants Ivanovic 'cause if AVB indeed is looking to get rid of him, there is no reason why they cannot get him at a pretty good price.

Alex is almost certain to leave, and i dunt see Chelsea selling Ivanovic for the time being unless they bring in another couple of defenders a CB and a RB. Even if Ivanovic loses his starting position, his versatility is considered a great asset for a team like Chelsea. He can play anywhere across the D line. I read that AVB is considering to play Luiz in Essien's position and this would make it less likely for them to sell another defender after selling Alex.

By the way anyone following the Copa game Paraguay vs Venezuela, any words on the Marcelo Estigarribia who we were linked off?

I wish we snapped up El Shaarawy, I have a feeling he's going to be great for AC Milan.
the hype around him makes it look like a great coup for Milan but, at this point, he could turn up either way really ... I personally trust Galliani's and Braida's judgement for talent and expect good things from him but will see.

That's sort of the problem - Chelsea have a new coach and there is an avalanche of speculations regarding who doesn't fit in his ideal roster and would be released.
At this point, I have read rumours for each one of Ivanovic, Alex and even David Luiz not being wanted by AVB ... and these are only the defenders.

Time will tell who would be let go and that player, whoever he is, would be available at relatively good price - Juve could have a pretty good use of Alex too, I'd say.
