Why the hell would Amauri give up a salary he'll never ever be close to get again in his life? I think he'd stay for a year, get his 4 million and be our 4th or 5th strikers. And with our usual injuries, I wouldn't be surprised if he got to play a lot of minutes.
Usually footballers are not that smart but if he stays and doesn't play a single match because is never chosen by the coach, it would make his chances much less to play anywhere the season after. So yes, he might enjoy a salary this season but his future is definitely black.

IMO Amauri will go wherever he'll be a starter. When Marotta tells his agent he is not a part of the club's plan, his agent will find him another team. Simple as that.

If we're playing a 4-4-2/4-2-4 next season (I hope we play a 4-3-3) what do you think our midfield is going to look like?

If it works well, there will be diagonal movement between the two outside players, not too many north and south running like in our typical 4-4-2 that has plagued us since Capello. It should be more like the Manure 4-4-2 where the wingers interchange with the strikers and the two central midfielders offer good support with one deeper and one nearby.

But I wish Conte luck with that.

The thing is, I don't think we have the player suited for a 4-4-2/4-2-4. Especially with the absence of a proper LW.

I wonder what formation would be optimal for our squad. I hope Conte isn't stubborn enough to use a formation that doesn't work for us.

Buffon
Licht - Bonucci - Chiellini - Ziegler
Melo - Pirlo - Vidal
Krasic - Matri - Aguero

I think that's the best we can get, the only problem is the inevitable sale of Filipe Melo. Hopefully we keep him, if not hopefully we can pick up someone like Lass however that is unlikely.

I think Quagliarella will be a super-sub. I now hear that Vidal and Marchisio are similar players, I think we need more of a destroyer in the midfield and Marchisio and Vidal won't offer that. We need Melo, Lass, etc.

De Ceglie or Ziegler, that one could go either way.

I think that Hus was way off the mark with all the players except Amauri, Motta and maybe Martinez.

If we do get rid of them this summer, then my guess is:
Manninger - free
Grygera - free
Motta - 4/5 million
Grosso - free
Sissoko - 6/8 million
Tiago - free
Melo - 13/14 million
Toni - free
Iaquinta - 5/7 million
Martinez - 6/7 million
Amauri - 7 million

TOTAL: between 41-48m euro
Not including Tiago since we were not paying his wages last season anyway, and guessing a salary of 2m for Toni, getting rid of those players will give us 20.1m in wage savings,

Add Aquilani (3.3m), Del Piero (3m, difference from old/new contract), Brazzo (2m), Rinaudo (750k), Traore (500k), Legro (750k, half his wage for his half season here), Lanzafame (600k, half his wage for his half season here) = 10.9m

Subtract 1.5m for Marchisio's wage increase (1m to 2.5m) = 29.5m in savings in wages compared to last season.

However, those players will need to be replaced.

The rest is media speculation and guess work.
Pirlo (4m), Ziegler (1.5), Lichtsteiner (2m), Pazienza (1.2m)
= now down to 20.8m in savings compared to last season.

Now we still need a LW, CM/DM, and a SS. At LM and CM/DM, they will receive at most contracts of 2.5m using their teammates as a reference point, while the SS could be 7.5m if that player is Aguero.

= 8.3m in savings on our wage bill compared to last season. Since the players salaries are earnings after tax, the real figure is a 16.6m euro difference in our wage bill compared to last season.

I don't think Pazienza will be getting 1.2M. I expect 750K - 1M.
Ziegler, sounds about right.
Lichtsteiner should be earning 1.5M
Pirlo, I hope to god he's not earning 4M.
