He is Napoli's version of Marchisio then?
Marchisio is a far better player than Gargano.

Gargano has more experience than Marchisio, so his decision making is probably better, but that's about all he's got.

I take it no-one who has been praising Gargano noticed that central midfield was by far the weakest area of Napoli's side this season?

Are you kidding? Napoli's CM consisted of 2 players and in such a spread out game it takes a monster to play there. Gargano is like those guys in FIFA online who hold the PRESS button all game. If Marchisio possesses "tactical smarts and positioning" then Gargano is Marchisio on steroids.
