It's hard to give a shit really when nowadays even an infinite budget doesn't guarantee you much

How the fuck are we going to get a top quality squad again when we can afford 2 moderately highly rated players every summer.

We'd be better off buying a portugese clubs scouting department or something.

I think the CR7 era was our last chance to be relevant in Europe long term and we fucked it.

Yeah, you are right.

He went even worse, full force.

He sold them Serie A current 3rd top goal-scorer for peanuts and splashed huge chunk of money on Nico, who played like 3-4 games for us.

Stop defending what can't be defended.

You, @Robee , @campionesidd and @DanielSz were dead wrong.

Time to leave the dark side and jump off the Giuntoli lap which you rode so long.

We're welcoming you back to the cool squad. But only if you apologize to me, @Lion, @Bjerknes and @JCK.
The replies they keep on telling. They are brainwashed

Don’t get any players.

Wait till summer and throw ever cent you have at someone like conte or zidane or klopp to come coach this team.

Give these coaches at least one season to implement their style. And get them players they need.

I think we are under estimating how important a good coach is to a team. Just look at juve pre conte to conte.

More recently Look at Napoli going from winning league to finishing 8th after coach left.

If all players are sucking then it’s not the players imo.

No one dared to say this when Al-legri was in charge. Is it bc it was the players fault?

Thanks. I haven't seen much of him.

But why as a striker was 13 goals in 2 years at Bologna considered a big success then?
This is my question too. Ok so he plays false 9 that’s great. How is it going to fix yildiz and Koop not scoring goals. Or rest of team really

This false 9 would be great if you had Ronaldo and 2013 Vidal. But these group of players are not steppping up and that’s on coach

Because exactly for all the things he was doing outside scoring. Dribbling, driving, possession, basically knows where and who to pass before he got the ball in that system.

And first season wasn't really considered a success, just an improvement. Last season was considered for scoring 11 and being more or less the teams creative hub/talisman. He was more or less the key point for Motta system with his role.

And I was against signing him exactly because he doesn't score enough, but if there's one coach which can unlock his overall game ala a Firmino, then it would be under Motta again.

But we don't have a Mo Salah he can assist who will score most of the goals.
For Motta system, he could be better suited and for Amorim, Vlahovic could br better suited

It's the scouting you're right. Giuntoli was supposed to be the one to find obscure players for cheap who turn out fantastic. The chat was that he had a huge database of players in his mind and didn't need to look them up.

Remember that?

Yep, somebody we know is a quality coach.

If its not working with them then you start making expensive moves on the transfer market. We've done it backwards.

And what we need even more is an actual fullback too, we’ve been forced to playing with McKennie as backup LB and Savona as starting RB for way too long now already, yet barely any rumors in that direction.

In my head Kalulu is moved to RB, while CB takes his spot in the center, but we also need LB Cover. That's why I expect two defenders to come.
Kalulu is not as conservative with the ball as Savona is so he could probably improve attacking prowess of that right side. If only we could sign a proper LCB and LB for rotation then it could work.
But then we also need a Vlahovic backup...

I get where you are coming from with it, however i actually think that Kalulu never played here as an actual RB/fullback but rather as an RCB/RB hybrid tucking in as part of 3 CB’s for most parts, and in fact that was where he seemed to be at his best indeed.

However bringing in a natural fullback/wingback type is just as necessary, even if just for depth.

Kalulu is not a fullback. Buy a fullback and let him run forward like a fullback. FFS just seeing Danilo there i had an aneurysm of how much better we were

Neither was Thuram, but he ended up being a great defensive FB while Zambrotta had freer reign on the left. I wouldn’t be opposed to LuLu at RB if we had competent CB’s, but we don’t.
