I think in another 5-10 years we should have at least have half the squad Next Gen and sign 2-3 quality players each summer. That’s the only way we will be sustainable in the future.
Really love the vision you have mentioned.
If not winning Serie A these couple years will bring us there I think it will be worth it!

(below is based on his recollection)
My step-uncle used to play for a team in premier league in 2000s. This team that he played for had a whole team of homegrown players in the 90s and won the treble. However, in the 2000s when my step-uncle joined, many foreign players came in together with him. They failed to gel well. Back then, defenders had zero technical capabilities and would shudder at the thought of receiving a pass. My step-uncle came from a french football academy that emphasized technical skills, even though he was a goalkeeper. When he played for this English team, none of his defenders knew how to receive his passes and many times he ended up playing the role of outfield players.

anyway, the above story shows that homegrown is the way to go and I hope to see 11 Marchisios or Del Perios turn up

Yo! Your step-uncle from Guam, trained in a french football academy & played in the Premier League in a home grown team. Then foreigners came & fucked it up. And your conclusion is that homegrown is the way to go? :lol2:

nah my step-uncle ain’t from Guam. He’s French. He did not play in the home grown team. When he joined, he came in with all the other foreign players. Well you can say he was part of the fuck up haha.

his technical capability and vision on the ball was way more advance than his defenders. Hence there was often miscommunication.

BTW, Memphis is not one of the nicest places around. Memphis might be no better than a ghost town if FedEx moves out.
I consider it flyover country myself.

You guessed right my friend! Are you a football junkie?! His stint at Man Utd was over in a blink of an eye I’m surprised some people remembered it

Lol it was too easy. Even if you didn't say he was French, you said home grown English team in 90s that won treble, and you said your uncle joined 2000s and they didn't have the same core of home grown nucleus anymore (mainly ageing Giggs and the Nevilles).

He was there for 4 years, but wasn't a very memorable stay and not that regular starter later on. He joined them in transition period indeed. They made him out to be sort of a meme. Even tho he was really goof for France NT usually.

haha yea, well back then goalkeepers were always an after thought. Easy to blame.

well actually these days it’s even easier to blame goalkeepers.

Team can’t keep possession? Ohh because goalkeeper is not good with feet
Team let in goals? Ohh because goalkeeper was bad
Team can’t score goals? Ohh because goalkeeper can’t make 90m passes for my overweight striker to score

hahaha

I see this is a recurring theme with this club.
agree. Tim Howard, DDG, and now Onana

EVDS was re only GK that lived up to his potential at MU after Peter Scm.

well, simply because MU players never enjoyed defending (except Martinez). Every single players at Man U dream of becoming the next Rooney.

Attacking is easy. Defending is hard. So let’s just blame the keeper.

it’s like having a huge cock and loving to fuck, but not putting in the work to seduce the lady, and then finally blaming heaven for keeping you a virgin.
