It's not as bad as some of our spoiled fans make it out to be, but we went a bit too far with homogeneous and eclectic.
It's good to have a second/alternative formation, but when two of your best players can't coexist and coaches struggle to create a working lineup with the given players and there's more quantity than quality in midfield (though I understand sacrifices needed to be made for other objectives like Ronaldo and de Ligt but not Cancelo), you become too dependent on countering the opponents than creating an identity of your own.
I don’t quite understand our transfer strategy. Back in 2011, we put together a team to bring us back to the top-tier in Italy. Since then, we’ve been buying talents only to sell them later for extra cash. Now we have the likes of De Ligt, Demiral and Rabiot, which is a big deal, but the reality is different as we don’t seem to be able to build around them. We always seem in need of change/upgrade.
