Napoli has Allan, who resembles Torreira even more then Torreira resembles Torreira. Why would they need him? Napoli has a paper thing attack, doubt they gonna spend 30+ mln on a backup CM.

Looks like we'll have a fullback revolution next year, Asa is leaving, Licht is leaving and Sandro might be leaving, which means we only have one fullback, de Sciglio. If we're bringing in Spinazzola, we'll still need a reliable LB in case he doesn't work out/gets injured and also a reliable RB, because de Sciglio definitely will be injured for parts of next season. And we'll not have a lot of wage space, because Can is arriving with big wages, while the ones going out where all on rather modest salaries - Alex Sandro 2.8m (less than DS  ), Licht 2m, Asa 1.6m. Wonder who Beppe has in mind.

Juventus in for Darmian | Football Italia

Juventus reportedly want Manchester United’s Matteo Darmian in the summer, as well as Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini.

The Bianconeri are not expected to do any business this month, but they are nonetheless working on plans for the future.

As reported yesterday, it appears they’re on the verge of signing Genoa’s Pietro Pellegri for €10m plus bonuses, and this morning’s Gazzetta dello Sport reports two more Italian targets.

The newspaper reports that Roma asked for Darmian on loan this month, but that was rejected by Manchester United.

His most likely destination remains Juventus, as despite Leonardo Spinazzola’s arrival at least one from Alex Sandro, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Kwadwo Asamoah will leave.

Gazzetta also reports that Pellegrini is a concrete target, and there is a release clause in the Roma man’s contract.

The fee comes down to games played, and is set at between €25m and €28m, payable in two instalments.

Emre Can of Liverpool is also expected to arrive on a free transfer, a deal which can be confirmed any time from February 1 onward, with negotiations already taking place.

@Mark - Darmian thread still in the pile somewhere? Reopen?

I can imagine us again doing some hole plugging job at RB, replacing Howedes with another CB that can be also deployed as a fullback. After all if we considered our original CL list RB collection of DS-Barza-Howedes-Sturaro good enough this year, it will probably be good enough for our management next year as well.

Licht will leave, he is just terrible now. Darmian is a MUCH better back up than current Licht and he can also play on the left or CB in a 3 man defense.
Licht will leave, but the task should not be replacing this old Licht with a back-up RB, but replacing Licht from few years ago who was a starter, because his decline has been a real loss for us. MDS is not good enough and/or fit enough to be our undisputed starting RB and I'm not sure about Darmian is.
