SMS: 60-80m.

I mean, that right there is a a great Mercato. No reason AT ALL to adjust the attack, we are set. Load up the defense. Keep Howedes once we unbreak him. Maybe find a decent RB that isn't crazy expensive. Otherwise, that would pretty much shore up our squad.

I mean, surely we can buy ONE PLAYER without selling? Maybe give Asamoah (8-10m value) to Lazio to bring down the fee?

I see us squad dumping players like Asa, Stu, Khedira and Licht's contract is up. Frees up wages for the list above.

Can't help but think Rugani will be sold. Can fetch 50m for him from an EPL team...that right there is pretty much most of what we would need for SMS. Don't want to sell Rugani but seems like Max has his doubts.

maybe tomorrow i'll have a dive into the balance sheet again but i suspect we will have lower revenue from the CL this year and also the boost from the pogba sale will also roll off so I envisage a few sales this summer

Might have lower revenue sure, but nothing crazy. Napoli out gives us the usual boost.

napoli out but roma are still in with a good chance of progressing

also need to factor in the 40mn owed for douglas costa and the higher amortization cost from our much higher valued squad now

How many defenders do you want we will have to exclude some players from UCL squad

much will depend on wages. Buffon, Barzagli, Licht, Asa, Khedira, Howedes leaving would be a big relief, but we already gave Costa 6M, Dybala and Higuain have both 7.5M, and how much are we giving Can and De Vrij? i imagine Can gets Khedira like wages, so 4-5M. De Vrij gets 3-4 lets say, and Spinnazzoldara get 1-2M. youre looking at 10-11M in wages added and probably slightly more than that (12-15M? no idea how much Gigi, Barza, Asa and Howedes make) going off the books with the above mentioned leaving. so, are we really ready to commit 80M and 6M in wages for SMS in a situation like that? i think not. a star player leaving might force us to go that route, but not necessarily. like i said numerous times, we missed out last summer

im unable to copy paste from the official financial statement but in terms of remaining book value everyone is negligible except the following (not including new signings):

cuadrado 20mn
dybala 27mn
benatia 16mn
higuain 73mn
sandro 15mn
mandzukic 11mn
pjaca 23mn
pjanic 26mn

In total our registration rights went up from 180mn to 300mn ish and these total assets are amortized over on average 5 years so thats going to be a 60mn expense this year roughly

need to read the whole report but off the top of my head , we have extra expense of 30mn on amortization, paying costa's transfer of 40mn, possibly lower champs league revenue of 20mn , i think we are already nearly 100mn in the hole...

TL;DR i doubt we will spend unless we sell, hence the urgency on getting freebies like can

That's partially why I think I can see us selling Rugani and trying to keep everyone else.

its nothing to panic about , i had a look at Real Madrid's balance sheet a few months ago and they've cut out transfer spending too...in fact all clubs have except for the english clubs and PSG...all the clubs are shoring up their balance sheets

i'd like to add that we do spend but on wages...our wage bill is like double that of our rivals in serie a

With the amount of Bosman's out there it could be smart get a few and see if we can't sell a year later if it doesn't work out. Perfect source of income :beppe:

That's interesting, actually. Gearing up for the post Mess/Ronaldo era I suppose.

i like to think it was triggered by FFP... and RM has been using its stellar revenues to pay down its debt...
