No, Szczesny is better. He and Buffon were the best GKs in the league last season. Szcz was the best shot-stopper, and Gigi the best overall. Donnarumma is the same as last season currently, didn't make any quantum leaps in a short period of time.

Sczezsny is a good goalkeeper by all means but he needs competition in order to not rest on his laurels so i’d rather believe that we will bring in a second quality keeper to fight it out for the starting spot with him from next season. My personal choice based on availability and cost would obviously be Mattia Perin, this forum is probably familiar with him even tho he had some serious injuries lately i still rate him when fit nowhere less than the Pole.
Long story short, in my view it would be ideal to take a risk on Perin(or someone on a similar level) while also keeping Sczesz and see how it pans out.

I don't think he's mediocre, but from what he's shown so far in his career, he's not exactly top quality as well. If Buffon indeed wants to hang up his gloves, I'd give Woj the chance next season to make or break his career, he's a decent keeper, might turn out great and we paid too much for him to be 2nd choice, won't get it back by selling either. Ideal scenario is Gigi wants to continue for one more year.

Polak doesnt seem like a leader to me while Buffon surely is and Donnarumma seems to have it in his character as well

What I have seen so far doesn't tell me that Donnarumma has a good character. Ofc he's young and his agent is Mino, but he seems to be an ungrateful idiot who can't stand up for himself.
