Juventus in race for Gimenez
By Football Italia staff

Juventus are ready to battle Manchester United and Manchester City for the serves of Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez.

According to Tuttosport, the 22-year-old Uruguay international has caught the eye of Bianoneri scouts.

His position in the Atleti pecking order has dropped of late.

He would be reunited with fellow Uruguay international Rodrigo Bentancur in Turin.

While Spanish papers are confident Atleti won’t sell Gimemez in January, the interest is certainly not calming down.

It’s reported Gimenez has a release clause worth €65m in his contract, which runs to June 2021.

But where is confusion his contract expires next year so his release clause won't be valid after that date
I know that. It seemed like an error in reporting from football italia. If you wrote that report, don't you think it would be more important to list that his contract expires next summer in which the release clause would be irrelevant?

We aren't going to sign Gimenez. We're probably gonna recall Caldara and Spinazolla, sign SMS (if we're not cheap) and De Vrij.

Our defense needs a total revamp, a major overhaul. Unfortunately, a new RB won't be coming in, unless Allegri leaves, and even then it's unlikely.

Hopefully, we can retain our star players, namely Sandro and Dybala. I hope Bentancur keeps developing and Pjaca regains form.
