we can't forget that the "free" players aren't actually that free, to sign them we pay them 1.5-2m per season more than the wage we'd pay them normally (which ends up costing us 3-4m per year) and upset the balance in our wage structure, which is already exploding without experiencing a freebie summer.

stealing freebies from the EPL is not cheap, Ozil would most likely become our highest paid player if we were to sign him, he's already at 8.25m per season and he'll be looking for a pay-rise not a pay-cut.

to put that into perspective, our starting goalie next season Woj is at 2.6m, our starting LB A.Sandro at 2.8m, Rugani 1.8m, Benatia 2.2m, Pjaca 1.2m, Berna 3m, Cuads 3.2, Mandžukič 3.5m. the salaries of Can, Costa and potentially Ozil are super-disproportioned to those, I can only imagine the fun renewal talks Beppe will have over the next few years.

Well you cant have it all...
BTW lets say Ozil`s price was 10M and he would like a salary of 5M per season would you want him here? (I know its better to have this than 0 and all shifted to salary because others would want a pay rise based on that)

yeah, I would. but price 0m and salary 10m for 4 years (realistic Ozil demands, considering he's on 8.25m currently) is around 25-30m more expensive than your scenario and as a bonus it also fucks with our wage structure.

if he actually was a WC attacking phenomenon like Sanchez I'd say fuck it, it's worth the money and the trouble, he'll make us way more dangerous in Europe compared to Higuain. but in my book Ozil is not, I'd only take him on for reasonable wages as another option in the squad and I hardly doubt he'll be down for that, he already showed his intentions when he moved to Arsenal, club that wasn't winning competitions, isn't winning and probably won't be anytime soon, but were he was a guaranteed star and made lots of money.

We wont hand him 10M... We would probably offer same wages and he`ll accept as he seems done at Arsenal.. The question is competition from other clubs...
0+3yearsX8=24M
10M+3yearsX5=25M
That was my calculation so it was same cost just different structure..
I agree with the wage thing that it is a problem as it would cause a domino effect..

Momblano links us to Pepe Reina. LOL
Makes 0 sense...
1. Polak is probably better than Reina (Im only saying probably because his career is divided and IMO he sucked for a long time that is until he came to Roma so its hard to evaluate him on 1 season)
Reina is a good GK but up till now Polak is doing a good job and shouldnt be replaced
2. If we do say Polak is not good enough then signing Reina makes 0 sense unless the whole purpose is to annoy Napoli.. I mean if we really want to upgrade Reina is definitely not the answer as he is a good GK but not a top GK.. upgrading is with a young GK with great future known or unknown - Could be Donnarumma Oblak or some guy we dont know yet but has an amazing talent which we have secretly scouted...
