Imo thats exactly how it works. more proven player equals higher price tag. and you simply cannot be proven at a club like Lazio playing for Serbian NT.
you look at it the wrong way simply. SMS plays for a top club in Italy. hes a 22 yo, physical, attacking btb CM in the Pogba mold, he has drawn attention from lots of top clubs already, so its pretty reasonable to expect a 60M+ fee being paid for him. thats just what players like him cost you nowadays. also, your question about when was the last time a team like Lazio got 60M for a player is irrelevant, because a. prices went full retard x100 only in the last 2 summers and b. when was the last time Lazio had a 22 yo WC player bound to a contract for the next 5 years?

Juventus will make an attempt to sign Donnarumma in the summer, according to RAI.

Juventus are very interested in both Bryan Cristante & Nicolo Barella, according to Sky.

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly preparing a mammoth €170m bid for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the deal is being conducted through super-agent Jorge Mendes.

The newspaper adds the Aquile have been “blown away” by the offer as only Neymar and Kylian Mbappe would command higher transfer fees in world football.

Furthermore, it would smash Serie A’s record sale of €110m, paid by Manchester United to bring Paul Pogba back from Juventus last year.

PSG are looking for midfield reinforcements as Thiago Motta is now 35 years of age, while Milinkovic-Savic has long been courted by some of Europe’s top clubs.

The 22-year-old has scored seven goals and assisted three in 21 appearances for Lazio this season.

See, That's the kind of over the top criticism that goes too far :p

But both would be missed should we make it to the final, that's for sure. History repeats itself.
No. You know what's too far?! Selling Bonucci, Vidal, Pogba, Sandro, and potentially Dybala in only 7 seasons! That's half a team of world class players in under a decade. You don't win CL titles by doing that.

Just curious: who'd you like us to replace Dybi and AS with?

Because it wont be Griezmann and Marcelo. It'll be Strootman and Ederson Palmeiri at best imo.
I would like us to retain our best players for once; show some balls instead of bending over and taking it up the ass when we see money.

Do you see Bayern selling their best players every year? They don't have a sugar daddy or endless supplies of cash like City and/or PSG, but they somehow manage to retain their best players and remain competitive in Europe, even winning a CL title not too long ago. I'd like our board to remain committed to doing well in Europe, and I don't feel a model where you behave like a 2nd rate team by selling your key players (and most marketable assets I might add) contributes to that.
