Verratti is going to be unbelievably expensive. If we go all in for Verratti, we'll struggle to address our other issues namely a physical midfielder and a RB.

If Verratti were to be available, Barca or Madrid would be the first ones to pounce in him especially the former whose midfield is in a terrible state.

Verratti's cm play partly makes up for that, but the godmode with Marchisio, Verratti, Pjanic on its own would be ludicrously good.

Marchisio, Verratti, Rincon

----------Pjanic

Will be a significant upgrade, and we can later adress an upgrade for rincon

Verratti wont come here, we can be interested but we wont pay around 100 m for him and this is the only way he leaves PSG. Imo he wont leave Paris for few more years.
Im not even that sure if he is the player we need, I would be all for him when Marchisio is not able to play at top level anymore, but right now? Dont think they would work together

So you think we'll ditch 3-5-2, play with a diamond , sign Benatia and keep 3 out of our 5 CB's on the bench ?

Not necessarily the case. We can do what we've been doing this season, alternating between the two. Plus, Barzagli will be 36, no assurances that he'd be done, but that's something to consider (his age). Chiellini is our new glass-man, he's been infested with injuries so far, so he's not a reliable option as of this point.

My only concern is we would still not have our physical midfielder, although I wouldn't mind a Witsel-level physical midfielder along with Verratti. That would be amazing actually.

If you ignore Barzagli , we'll still have Benatia who's a top level defender , Rugani who has already shown his quality along with Bonucci and Chiellini. Are we going to keep all these players happy while playing a back 4 ?

Seeing how Rugani has progressed, wouldn't it be better to play 3 at the back, allowing him more game time as well as Benatia?

This is also precisely why I don't endorse the James signing

Buffon
Rugani-Bonucci-Chiellini
Danilo-Tolisso-Marchisio-Pjanić-A.Sandro
Dybala-Higuaín

Neto
Alves-Barzagli-Benatia-LB
Bentancur
Rincon/Khedira-----Sturaro
Cuadrado-Mandzukic-Pjaca

Much easier to implement imo

Tolisso could leave Lyon for €40m at the end of the season. Dahoud has an unconfirmed clause at around €10m. [Romeo Agresti]

Interesting quote there. Does it roughly translate to "Never have I argued with a scientist and emerged the vanquished, and nor have I argued with an an imbecile and emerged the victor." ?!

Im a bit confused.Madrid had the same revenue in 2009 as we have right now and they bought Ronaldo and Kaka 2 of the most expensive transfers ever on ridiculous wages,so how we can't afford these kind of transfers despite of selling 2 or 3 players and making at least 50mln from them? Am i missing something?

Real bought Kaka for £56M and Cristiano for £80M, were looking at 2009, where its fair to say and im guestimating here that markets fluctuated by 1.5

So the kaka equivalent would cost you 84M and the utd Cristiano for 120M

Additionally Real took out loans,

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2009/jun/16/real-madrid-loans-debt

Are we seriously willing to take that risk knowing that in terms of marketing and global merchandising we are far inferior to Real. Real always had bigger powers to help them if they ever did collapse, im not so sure Exor will back or mitigate the risk of such big investment.

Even if all 5 were performing as well as they are right now, we can still utilize them all by alternating between 3-5-2 and 4-3-1-2, 3-5-2 being the favored formation for obvious reasons.
My only problem is for 3-5-2 we need a very physical player next to marchisio and Pjanic, we need a vidal or someone close to that.

If we're bringing in Bentancur plus definitely one and maybe two more central midfielders then clearly there are going to be outgoings. Hernanes is an almost certainty. Asamoah is another strong candidate. Lemina looks like a possibility as well considering his falling out of favour in recent times. Mandragora will surely have to go on loan. Khedira will surely be kept around for at least another year, even taking into account his poor form for his level.

Revenue itself doesn't mean much, you need to take into account the costs of operation, debt, etc.

Our net income for 15-16 for example was around 4m.

I wouldn't really say Verratti is a soft player. He would defo add strength in our midfield IMO.

He'd be a perfect singing. By far the best player to get for our middle.

I just.... can't see it happening.
