I think it could work. Barcelona has always played with two creative, lighter players and one brute behind them. Xavi + Iniesta and Rakitic + Iniesta backed by Busquets would not be far from Pjanic Verratti backed by someone like Lemina or someone with some more physical traits.

Verratti, togheter with Pogba, is the most naturally gifted CM in the world. Despite beeing 23 he allready has the increasingly extinct trait to incredibly boost his teammates around him like Scholes or Marchisio for example can. We can go to immense lenghts to describe the technical benefits he brings to any single team in the world by playing, but coupled with that very very rare trait makes him the N°1 midfield player to get right fucking now.


This is the player that is actually worth 105 million without taking marketting, merchandising, dabs or hookers in regard. Not a single player brings that much.

Verratti is better at everything compared to Pjanic. Especially when it comes to defensive work, mental resillience and getting away from markers under pressure (a trait that reminds alot of Pirlo and Del Piero)

Verratti would be a great signing. 100+ is insane money though and I definitely wouldn't go that far on him and I doubt any other club would either. He can definitely control the midfield better than Pjanic but he is also definitely not as good in delivering the final ball.

We do need a Treq if 4-3-1-2 is going to be our permanent formation in the future. Pjanic can play that role if we are starting the likes of Lemina but that is far from good enough for a top 4 team.

When you have 3 insanely great strikers backed up by two insanely creative possession masters, your opponents are usually pinned back for the entirety of the game and still concede tons of goals. Barca would be idiots if they weren't an aggressive attacking team with those 3 upfront.

Yes but I don't see why it wouldn't work for Juve. 2 insanely creative possession masters feeding balls to two insanely good attackers while also keeping a tight backline with 3 CBs and backtracking wing-backs.

Besides, Verratti might be small but he is by no means a light midfielder. Dude tackles and intercepts way more compared to someone like Khedira, while harassing opponents like a madman. Have a more physical CM/CDM behind them (Witsel, Lemina) and it could very well work like a dream.
