Verratti would be sweet indeed, but he doesn't improve our team IMO. We get a stronger bench, definitely, but I don't see him justify the resources we could use elsewhere.

He's no significant improvement, if any, over Pjanic. As I tried to say, if you have ten dollars I wouldn't go spend it all on someone who does not significantly improve our starting eleven or adds a different aspect to the team. I would either go for someone superior to Verratti or spend it on another position *cough* trequartista or left winger.

How can you compare Pjanic and Verratti? Verratti is more regista-like and as you saw. Allegri tried Pjanic as regista but it wasn't his place, he didn't feel comfortable there so Allegri chose for Lemina or Hernanes. Pjanic is more a playmaker while Verratti is more a playdistributor. In other words. Pjanic feeding the offensive moves and Verratti holds the game in balance and hold te team wide.

Besides that Verratti is defensively also better than Pjanic, so he can catch up the mistakes in midfield.

Also, there are ongoing problems with Insigne's renewal. I'd take him if available. Young, Italian, skilled, can play as a winger and ss. Napoli will never sell him to us unless he has a release clause in the current contract.

Verratti is better then Pjanic, that needs to be clear. Especially in CL. Verratti just elevates a team in every way when in charge.

Also more importantly there is room for both in a midfield.
