It’s difficult to understand what we should expect. We’ve been cutting so much in the squad with Ronaldo, Higuain etc out, and there’s still so much room for improvement that you’d expect some financial freedom. At the other side, EL seems realistic and that would have its financial consequences.
But if we do go all-in on merely younger, unproven players than its time to reset the standards for a few years, as it seems likely that we need some time in order to grow.
But that's where we are at right? We made poor decisions years ago that have crippled us on field and covid has crippled us off field. It's a sad reality that has put us in a position where we can't afford proven star players.
We need to accept that we had 9 successful seasons in Italy, and finished runners up twice in the CL. Now we need to start planning for the future and we need to live within our means as a club and plant the seeds for a sustainable and successful future. It's shit that we need to hit the reset button but it is what it is.
We have no choice yet again to look at freebies, and some available are are actually good players and not as shit as our previous choices. Whatever money is available for the market needs to be spent on players who are ready to take their game to the next level. In addition, we need to work on magic type deals, long loan options with option to buy. Also, we need to seriously invest faith and time in some of our loaned out players who are showing real promise.
If the above means the scudetto gets shared around by the milan clubs, hopefully napoli and atalanta get their chance as well..meanwhile we build a beast of a team then I'm fine with this. At least we are not trying to find bandaid type fixes which don't work..e.g. ramsey.
