I'd pass on Sneijder. Our priority, having in mind CL, lack od reliable defenders atm and virtually zero opportunities to sign top quality T/Q or a winger as it is always the case during winter transfer markets, should be decent defender to fill the current gap, at least on a loan, therefore I wouldn't be against signing Rolando as a temporary solution. Better save the scarce funds for the summer, when we won't be forced into buying mediocre players at inflated prices. The winter mercato is the worst time to spend. Hopefully Rugani fullfils his potential and becomes our permanent solution for the CB spot. If there's any chance of acquiring Shaqiri's services during this window, then it is the oppotunity that we need to pounce on, but I somehow doubt that he'd leave Bayern during the season. .

I don't like the idea of bringing Rolando. He played well for Inter, yes. But Caceres is healing, Ogbonna is healthy. Even Barzagli may come back.
But with Caceres and Ogbonna as backups, I'm ok with it. Rolando would be our 5th our 6th CB anyway.
If he comes, I really hope it's on low salaries, max 500k for his loan and NO obbligation to buy. Just a stop gap we might not even need to use.

I still like Pereyra. He doesn't strike me as the best AM option, he looks like a natural box-to-box CM. He gives us good depth in the middle.

So IMO we need ONE signing only this winter: Shaqiri. He's not a world beater, but he fills the AM void and also can play as a winger. He gives us the much needed dynamism and quickness.

We paid 18M for Pereyra and 22M for Morata ffs. 20M for this guy, even in shorter installments, are well worth it. He would be a starter from day one. I know his contract is nearing an end and because of that this price would be too high. But we'd need to place a good offer to win competition from EPL and Bayern probably still doesn't like the fact we've "stolen" Vidal from them.

A big NO to Sneijder, a guy with high salaries and who won't have any value to be sold. We got in debt with this kind of signing. The guy is injury prone and is past it. PLEASE DON'T DO THIS KIND OF ITALIAN STUPID SIGNING AGAIN.

What we really need is 2 big signings in this window and the next one: Shaqiri and a good LB in june. Spend around 20M on each.

Then in june we go for a real LB, bring Rugani back, buy a young RB and loan him out to develop him. And more importantly, develop the youngsters and show faith on them. Get rid of Giovinco. And give Pirlo a backup role. If he doesn't accept it, let him go. Sell Llorente while he still can give us some money and bring in a CF with upside to fight for a starting job.

Buffon; Licht, Bonucci, Chiellini, LB (Kurzawa or whatever); Marchisio, Vidal, Pogba; Shaqiri, Tevez; Morata.

bench: Leali; Caceres, Barzagli/Rugani, Ogbonna, Evra; Sturaro, Pirlo, Asamoah, Pereyra; Coman, CF (Kramaric, Berardi, Zaza or stg)

I mean, we're coming to a transition moment again. Buffon, Chiellini, Barzagli, Pirlo, Tevez, Llorente... key players who are starting to decline, or will start to in the near future.

We have good youth material with Rugani, Sturaro, Pereyra, Coman, Morata. But we've got to develop them. Allegri should have played them much more IMO. It's a big mistake. Starters must rest and kids must develop confidence.

If Marotta goes the Italian way and sign guys like Rolando and Sneijder this summer, I'll be so pissed... we'll be walking backwards again.

I pretty much agree with everything said. I think bringing back Berardi is a must though.

+rep.

The thought of Mexes just made me throw up in my mouth.

Some great Bosman list there:

Rannochia or Mexes And Aquilani and Vargas would be great!
Mexes or Rannochia could bench Bonucci and help us survive the post-Barzagli era, they are better than Ogbonna and will hold until Sorensen becomes of age.
Aquilani will add the anti-Pirlo depth we are looking for and Vargas will finally give us that LM option Marotta has been failing to find...

And of course, we MUST renew Licht!
6/10 this time Cronios. I know you can do better than this.

Snejder for the rumored ~7 million would honestly be the worst acquisition of Marotta. Sure, he might not turn out as bad as Martinez, or even Isla, but the failures of those two can to some extent only be recognised in hindsight, at the time they were made the deals could be considered at least mediocre to moderately bad (I'll get a lot of shit for saying this about Martinez, and we defenitely overpaid there, but no one could have really predicted that he'd flop that bad). With others, such as Boriello, it was clear that they were only going to be short term loans without much financial costs from the start.

Snejder however, is not only a player that is old, out of form, and without much he can offer to the team, but with the fee he'll command and his heavy wages he will also end up to cost us quite a lot from a financial point of view. Simply desastrous. I could stomach him on a Bosman, or on loan, but not like this.

And I still remain hopeful that we will not actually sign him.

Mexes is a prick, but he can tackle, which Bonucci cant and sometimes we really need that.
Rannochia has formed an excellent twin with Bonucci, this twin could work again, we all know that Inter does not respects Italian players, remember Cannavaro. We have really took bigger gambles and this one is for free and if it turns out well, we will have the NT twin of the coming years. At any case we really need a CB alternative and i dont see us getting a Vidic guy.
Aquilani is not any slower than Pirlo and will last untill Maronne comes of age, we have decent options anyway, if he fails no biggie... but thats better than spending fortunes on new Pereyras and Romulos.
And Vargas has lost speed, but has tons of technique, Marotta really suffers from left side solutions and Vargas has been one of the greatest in seria A for many years.

These are all realistic solutions, that Marotta could pull, i do believe that he can sign each and everyone of them, but most likely he will do worst, so if any of these realistic targets are landed, i will be pleased!
Ok now this is a little bit better. Championing the cause of Vargas, Mexes and Ranocchia. 7.5/10
