As if Vidal couldn't play as AM in a 4-2-3-1. It's all about the manner of playing. Formations aren't about stereotypes, pal. Conte played a 4-3-3 in a complete different manner as well.
Of course he COULD play CAM, just like Marchisio can, so can Pogba probably and even Perayra.

But it's about getting the BEST out of your best players, and if you think taking by far our best defensively capable midfielder, slapping him in a CAM spot in a 4-2-3-1 AND having god knows who on each wing is a viable option, then I don't know what to say.

Oh and before I forget, 4-2-3-1 means we can say goodbye to Tevez or Llorente

Benching Tevez is unacceptable, and Benching Llorente would be harsh considering he's definitely more suited to playing the lone striker role. So do people want to sacrifice Vidals defensive contributions, and bench one of our strikers to fit somebody like Giovinco/Pereyra in to a 4-2-3-1? Because I sure as hell don't, and thankfully Allegri probably wouldn't fancy that either.

Why the fuck is Mata discussed as a serious option

I mean if it's just pure hypothetical speculation, alright, but be clear that the rumors are utter bullshit, and the chance that he'll actually sign for us is somewhere in the region of a promille.

I feel like every time we refuse a club when they bid on Vidal or Pogba, that only means they will be harder to deal with when we want one of their players. Anyone else feel that way?

Not really.

And even if that was the case, do you want Juve to give up their best players to other clubs readily, just so there is a chance of signing some players who probably aren't as good?

He just wants to see Vidal gone so Marchisio gets more playing time.

No, of course not. That's not what I said. I'm putting myself in other owners shoes that if another club refused to hear any offers someone made, why should that club even bother doing business with them unless they were desperate to get that player off their books.

I think in the vast majority of cases pragmatism wins in international transfers.

Offer the most cash when a club is willing to sell and you'll get the player.

Things can be a little different in domestic deals where clubs are dealing with each other far more and so may well develop good or bad relationships, but I rarely see any evidence of such matters between clubs in different countries.

Sure it doesn't help when you keep knocking teams back however if the price is right like Red said, then it can be done.

If knocking clubs back prevented you from getting quality players, then the likes of Bayern and Madrid wouldn't be so stacked. If the player is willing and the club wants to cash in, you will find a deal

However if you go after a clubs star player whilst flat out refusing to discuss your own, they may be reluctant.

New contract for Pogba until 2018 with an option for one more year. 4.5mln/season

New contract for Buffon until 2017, might as well be his last contract

After that it might be Marchisio turn to sign a new one.

Darmian is wanted by Roma right now. We're also interested.
The question is who got interested in Darmian first.
