Vinnie has some fond memories of Vieri. That much is clear. Though I have to question why, given his best days were one season in an Inter jersey and, IMO, not so much on the Italy NT. Euro 2000 was one thing, but WC 2002 was a disaster for him.

euro 2004 was the real disaster, i never understood why the f*ck crapatoni insisted on playing him, whilst ale and cassano were running the show, ill never forget how angry i was how vieri allowed zlatan to score passed him who was guarding the near post

Vieri didnt play in Euro 2000 (he was injured), but made his mark in WC '98, and scored almost all of our goals in WC 2002

He had just came back from an injury in Euro 2004, and his timing was off, as anyone could see...

Ale and Cassano play as second strikers...Vieri's direct replacement was Corradi, and I would take a crippled Bobo over a fully fit Corradi any day of the week

D'oh. My mistake. I think I flipped everything by 2 years here... Euro 2000 for WC2002 and WC2002 for Euro 2004.

It's not unreasonable that he didn't get that one, although he must have headed every ball over the goal in that match except that one :D

for someone at his height, who is reknowned to be strong in the air shud of easily got that floating ball, instead he barely lifted himself off the ground. if only canna was on that near post :agree:

id rather play with 10 men than take either vieri or corradi
