Vieri on comeback trail Thursday 8 March, 2007

Christian Vieri has moved closer to making his first appearance for Atalanta this season after returning to training.
The injury-plagued veteran today took part in his first full session with his teammates since his summer arrival.
Vieri was only set to return at the end of this month, but his rehabilitation programme has gone better than expected.
The much-travelled attacker has been out of the game since last season when a knee problem at Monaco saw him ruled out of the World Cup Finals.
Vieri rescinded his contract with the principality outfit during the summer after opting to join Sampdoria, the club where his father also starred as a player.
However, Vieri and Doria split just weeks into their agreement and the former Italian international was on the move again.
He surprisingly rejoined Atalanta when he, somewhat amazingly, accepted a minimum wage contract of just over £1,100 a month.
Vieri could now be around 20 days away from returning to the field of play for the Stadio Azzurri d’Italia outfit.
