This is bothering me a lot lately
Most of the people here are against the McDonalds attitute,
system, exploitation of immigrants, lies about the quality of food, etc.
This is not just a burger in your hand, and jeez it tastes good, so the
company must be pretty good!!???
This is about the effect it has on the farming industry, how certain
bacteria get into the food, how their advertising is effecting young
children and most sadly on a global scale the following: McDonalds used
to be a super successful company. As such, millions of smaller, to huge
industrial companies are using the McDonalds system of business, as a
blue-print for successful turn-over.
This means only one thing, making money above all else. No matter how
people are treated, no matter if small children eat crap like this, no
problem about lying about the quality of the product; as long as they
make money! Not a single employee is allowed to think for himself. Do
your job, listen and go home, you little robot, you!! Now think if this
happens globally. Do you want to live in a world like that?? Let's make
money and screw the poor, the kids(because they'll buy and eat
anything), cheap labour, ruin the farming industry(which is another huge
issue), etc. Do you think that this world will be a better place.
Yes, understand that the USA is years ahead of the rest of the world.
Why is it that 60% of the population is over weight?? Because of the
power of advertising. Advertising, especially McDonalds advertising, is
super smart and aimed at pushing all your buttons, the right ones.
Should we allow McDonalds to advertise and reach our kids? Should we eat
this low quality food product because we are under the impression that
it's healthy?
So, this is a classic ripple effect, and it reaches out to levels of
life that is shocking.
Why do you think OTHER FOOD CHAINS HAVE THE SAME MENU OR PRODUCTS?????
Get with it, see the facts. This is a good way of making money, but at
what price? Do we
need this style of business all over the world? As for the RMHouse. Do
you think G. Bush looks at the TV and says: "gee honey, I think tomorrow
we will visit the orphanage on church street,I am in a generous and
caring mood."
It's called winning fans, propaganda, appearing saintlike and caring.

Sadly, that's what the bizz is all about. The first thing they teach you in basic Econ before you even take Marketing is to maximize production and minimize cost. It's all about the money.
anyhow, about McD's. I blame the consumers just as much. most people know that McD's food shouldn't even be classified as food, yet they still consume it. part of the blame should be placed on the people. The solution would be that the government has to raise the quality standards higher even if it means higher costs and less profit, but then again, it's also to the governments advantage for fast food to be cheaper, so people can spend more money on other luxeries to get the money flowing...add to this the costs the government'll have to face to enforce these high standards and inspections. Therefore, i dont expect much intervention from them.
Anyhow, it's just up to us not to eat from that shit!!

I agree. Business is business. People are in it to make money. But remember what happened with the tobacco companies in the US? Basically the states said "hey... we ain't gonna pay for all smoking related deseases, let the cigarettes producers do that".
Back to the fast food businees. I very strongly believe that all the "rich" food causes high cholesterol blood level and consequently- heart related deseases.
And guess what, more people die of heart related deseases in the US than any other cause (guns, traffic accidents, drugs, AIDS).
So, what we may expect to see in years to come is states taking these "slow-killers" like McDonnalds to court. Even though I wouldn't want that to happen, I LOVE McDonnalds

Yes, its called the "Cheeseburger Bill", whcih prevents people from suing fast food places for causing obesity.
I have to support the fast food companies on this. No one is making you go in there to eat their food. ITs not as if, as free people, you don't have a choice where you can go to eat, or god forbid, actually take the 20 minutes out of the day to make food yourself.

I personally do not care (as I can't help it and enjoy the junk food), but oponents of this will argue that: nobody is making people smoke. Some can draw lines between smoking sigarettes and eating hamburgers, and even though hamburgers don't contain nicotine, they are probably addictive. Or I should say "junk food lifestyle" in general (eating out at fast food restaurants regularly) is addictive.
What I don't like though is that sigarettes and alcohol are heavily taxed by the government because of their steady demand, while other industries' products aren't. Basically, if I am a smoker, and another guy loves hamburgers, I am paying $4.00 per pack of sigarettes, of which $1.50 goes to a tobacco company and $2.50 goes to the government. Another guy pays $3.50 for a Big Mac meal, of which $3.00 goes to McDonnalds and $0.50 goes to the state. The same applies to alcohol. I think this is unfair to the smokers and I see a precident of discrimination on a basis of personal habits.
