Racism in the UK is not as big a problem as it is everywhere else. Im of mixed origin and have been subject to racism, especially when i play football.

But i have also recieved racial abuse from a fan at a local football match, but their the local fans turned around and gave him abuse, the guy was escorted off the ground and the locals were apologising.

Racists are narrow minded idiots, however racism stretches further than just black and white. Idiots who hate Asian, Americans, Turks etc exist all over the world.

English racists tend to get pissed and get stabbed in istanbul.

Aahh sweet relief.

Not much racism in this country either. What does astonish me is that any racism that does exist seems to be related to football 'fans'... Something strange going on there, as if a football stadium is a legitimate place to ventilate that crap.

People focus on racism way too much. It's acceptable to call an Italian a moaning bitch who should be in the kitchen making pizza (as several German newspapers did), but calling a black player a monkey suddenly becomes world news. I'm sorry, but why is the latter more offensive? Couldn't you expect black players to buckle up to some extent at least?

It very much annoys me that several black players act like they're the only black guy on the planet. People call you names for it, so what? There are millions just like you.

Most EPl clubs do there up most to stamp out racism, but yes footy fans often use race as an insult to a player and their mums.

Are you trying to make the monkey chants seem acceptable?

I'm asking why they are not, while insulting entire nations is.
A negative degrading taunt such as a monkey chants suggest that because they are black they are less of a person, simple people who are stupid. Thus a attack like that cant be anything but hatred for a race.

But insulting nations appear to be inherantly linked to a nations patriotism.

The french hate the english, the english hate the french. The Aussies hammer the pommes in the press , like the Engish hammer the convicts.

Fair enough, just clearing that point up.

The french hate the english, the english hate the french etc etc
Yes and this obviously is retarded. But I don't see campaigns against it. Racism is foolish, no doubt, but you're always going to have some idiots in a football stadium. If they're not racist, they'll come up with something else to insult a player. I just don't get why a black player feels insulted if he's confronted with racism, but any player couldn't care less if an entire stadium call his mother a hooker.

I don't think there's a substantial difference other than the point that nations and nationalism/patriotism is an invented concept dating back to only a few centuries ago. Could hardly be said for skin colour.

Still, discrimination is discrimination.

Most EPl clubs do there up most to stamp out racism, but yes footy fans often use race as an insult to a player and their mums.
Usually it's a bigger problem as the clubs get smaller. I get the impression insults are much more frequent in amateur divisions than they are in the top flight. At least in Holland.

None, but then how many does italy have? In fact how many big Euro footy nations have Black men as managers? La Liga? Ligue 1 doesnt even have many.
Before I start off the rant, would you consider Holland a big 'Euro footy nation' or should I just leave this one be? :D

I think the monkey chant is far more insulting than calling ur mum a hooker. Mainly the hooker insult is widespread for all, where as the monkey chant is reserved for the black male/female.

Holland are blatantly a big footy nation. :D

Indeed it is generally a bigger problem the smaller a club gets, but i often watch Blackpool, Preston an other such lowly english teams, who have little racism problems at all.

However just to buck the trend, im sure Real Madrid have racist problems :faq1:

The problem with that reasoning is that there are a lot of black people in this world. Automatically the insult becomes widespread. So every time some guy comes out to complain about the racist insults he get, which he obviously shouldn't get though, I ask myself why he takes it so personally. Does he consider himself the only man with a black skin colour on the entire planet?

Well they also have Capello... Not sure we'll want to use them as a standard for anything

Yeah... I rest my case.
