After Appiah’s recent failings with Juventus, the Bianconeri are looking for a midfielder to add onto their squad during this January transfer window.
River Plate’s Javier Mascherano is now being touted as the player on top of Capello’s wish list.
In order to sign the player, the Biacooneri must beat Inter and Chelsea’s stiff competition.
If the deal gets completed, Appiah will need be sold in order to free up a non-EU spot on the Juve squad as Mascherano does not yet own a European passport.

On the other Hand....
Juventus general manager and transfer guru Luciano Moggi announced the Bianconeri’s transfer activity for this January window is officially over.
“Juve sold Iuliano to Mallorca and loaned out Legrottaglie to Bologna. With these two moves, our transfer market is closed,” he said, before giving details on the Mutu transfer.
“Livorno signed the player, and will turn him over to us. This is a technique that many Serie A teams have used in the past, like Inter with Gamarra,” he said.
”We are now waiting for the transfert to arrive from England. Another week is needed before everything will be complete, and then Adrian will start training with us.
“The latest problems between Chelsea and Mutu are between them two, and don’t involve us. These won’t hinder the completion of the move.”
