Who are the Arabs? (22 Viewers)

1-ppl who speak Arabic.
2-they mostly are Muslims (most of Arabs are Muslim but it doesn't mean that every Muslim is Arab as well)
3-ppl who suppose themsleves in a large family and support each other.
BUT,this is what comes to my mind when I hear Arabic or wanna imagine an Arab: (in this order)
1-ppl wearing some kind of special long white stuff,and covering their heads with a strange thing(when they come to stadiums,you think the stadium is all white)--->here I don't count Arabs of Africa and countries such as Lebanon and Syria.
2-Muslims who (imo) believe in Islam more than(and in a right way) the other Muslims(Iran is a Muslim country,ppl are supposed to be Muslims,but many of them aren't religious)--->here I think I just count Arabic countries around the gulf.
3-the countries around the Persian Gulf--->here I don't count the rest of Arabs for sure.
4-Arabic lessons in school that are very difficult.I passed 6 grades in this lesson and I still can't speak Arabic.I just understand it a bit

Anyhow there was of course resistance, but the fact is that Egypt and most north Africa was not ruled by their original people. The original people embraced Islam, and were fascinated by it's message of peace, diversity, racial equalism. War is never a walk in the park, what I am getting at that if it was an Arab invasion you would've found liberation movements and sooner or later the Arabs would be eventually kicked out. But that is not the case, all north Africa countries are up to this day Islamic. It just seems that there is a preconcieved notion that Islam was spread by the sword, which I totally refute. Indonesia the most populous Islamic country today, not one Islamic soldier set foot on those Islands. The sword was just used to move the barriers of the rulers who opressed their people back then and would have blocked the spread of Islam. Rulers were seen as a blocking stone in the way between the Islamic message and the masses. After the rulers were removed, people were free to choose their paths. Getting the message through was a top priority.

who said anything about islam being spread by the sword? And one has to keep perspective of historical objectivity. we can call it invasion here and liberation there. Fact is, i really dont see any room for argument, it was an invasion. there were no arabs in the region prior to that. After the fact there were. I really dont see any room for argument.

and i wanted to keep on an ethnic level(arabs) to avoid this kind of confusion.
You didn't. Its just that the word invasion brings up that picture in most minds. And yes there is room for argument. Because if you pool the Islamic conquests with other conquests would be just unfair. Most invasions have materialistic or worldly motives behind them, which was not the case with the Islamic expansions.
