Honestly, I think the simplest solution is for people to wisely use the ignore list.

Aside from enforcing the general rules of the forum, it's quite impossible for the mods to pigeonhole this community into a homogenous unit that suits everyone, and even if it were achievable the outcome would be a stale and boring community. This forum thrives on a huge variety of different personalities and viewpoints. Any attempt to "ban the trolls" is overly reductionistic and again, impossible, because as we've seen in the last 20 pages of discussion the very definition of a troll differs depending on who you ask.

Deep down, people know that the ignore list would be the simplest way of avoiding posts that they find unhelpful or uninteresting, but don't use it because they enjoy the drama.

Plus, it's confirmed that it works. I'm banned from 2-3 threads myself.

And then that legendary thread RUS opened. He was banned from it the moment he started it. We all discussed there, bar RUS.
There you go. But if it works why do I have to read filling pages with SELL, fuck (insert juve player), personal insults and so on. What are the rules? how often am I allowed to insult a player or another member or simply derail a thread with nonsense before I get banned?

Won't work in this case, Gray.
I don't want to rob myself of reading some member's posts in the other threads. I love to read the posts of most of these members involved in the silly wars taking place in those 3-4 threads. It's just about their posts in those particular threads that are tiresome. Like Jem mentioned above, some of them are tired themselves from the trolling, but they won't quit until you as a mod crew do something about it.

Do not ban them from those threads for the time being. Let this thread serve as a warning. But if it continues, then temporary bans from certain threads (not from the forum) will do a nice job. I don't want to rob myself of reading their posts in the other threads, but I also don't want to rob myself of reading news about Mirko, Quag, Matri and Giovinco. As things stand, one just can't browse those threads anymore.
