After seeimng the barca game I would have to say the best formation would be 4-2-3-1, but with a twist.

DC Ferrara (Legro was awful against Barcelona)
DL Zambrotta
DR Thuram
MC Davids
MC Nedved
LW Miccoli
AMC Del Piero
RW Camoranesi
ST Di Vaio

I know many of you will object to Neddy not being an offensive midfielder, but after seeing Camo and Miccoli in action, they probably wpuld be better choices for the offensive side of the tactic, and Neddy would help out in midfield more.

Nedved definitely deserves another opportunity , because he didi a decent job, but nothing special.

IM worried now,,but for good, because now we have a lot of choices.

Im a little worried for Del Piero, because i know that he have bad day, but today was more than a bad day, he was,, i dont know,,he was really extrange.

i think thats a good balance side. Although i think it would have been good to have Olivera still at the club as he could be a direct replacement for nedved as well.

Thats absolutely BEAUTFIUL and realistic! honestly, i would field that if i was lippi. then you would have subs like trez, camo, appiah, just waiting for a player to get injured, and sieze the oppourtunity!

I think Trez's performance depends also on poor assists by his striker partner (DP). If Miccoli was with him, he would have more chances to prove his worth

Miccoli is making DV look good, so I'm sure he will do the same with Trezeguet

if camo + miccoli + di vaio continue like this i think they could even "box" out del piero of the starting formation...

i think a 4-man defence is quite clear (doubt that lippi will change this)
thuram - tudor - legro - zambo

but i'm actually confused about the options we have in midfield/attack...
what do u think is the most probably starting formation.. (not what u want, but what lippi may use)...

I think Tudor (especially considering his numerous and current muscular problems) won't be a first team regular. More like Montero - Legro in the middle.

This is how I think Lippi will play:

Buffon
Thuram-Montero-Legro-Zambrotta
Tacchinardi-Davids
Camo-DP-Nedved
Trezeguet

DP would actually be closer to Trez than to Camo and Nedved.

I also think that that 4-2-3-1 formation can easily change to a classic 4-4-2 depending on the necessity of the moment.

That's true yeah, Camo and Nedved on the wings (or Davids instead of Nedved) and DP up front. I like that one!

Davids is excellent wherever you put him Yesterday he worked alot on the left side, dribbling players all the time.

No cos Trapattoni had thought of playing DP on the wing or behind the strikers, but DP wanted to play just as striker/forward.

In the last match he did play on the left side, so maybe he gave in since upfront he's definitely closed by Vieri and Totti?
