Definitely, but my point is that it's impossible to be consistently successful without having shit load of money. I mean, even if a team like Porto wins the Champions League, it's just going to end up selling its players to richer teams. In the end, there is a monopoly on talent imposed by the super rich. Teams like Man City will inevitably be successful. There aren't two ways about it.

Right, but that's because when a club spends a lot of money you automatically raise your expectations. So you're saying Man City's spending backfired, did it really?
Who was Man City before they were bought? Now they are competing in the top 3 of the Premiership.
Real Madrid used to spend so much that people automatically assumed that if they don't win everything, they're a failure. But Real was always finishing in the top 2 in La Liga, and were going far in the CL.
I can't think of a single example of a team who spend a lot of money but achieved no success, but I can think of many well-managed teams who experienced little or no success.

Sooner or later their top 3 wont be their goal but winning the Championship, which I don't see it happening. Time will tell, I could be wrong.
They have failed miserably in CL for years now. Haven't seen them in the Semi's since some almost 02-03 if I'm not mistaken.

True Madrid haven't won it since they crashed out to us in the semi final back in 03, but they did win it in 01 because of their big spending.
Again, let's not downplay the Spanish League too much. There's a reason why they finish either 1st or 2nd every single year and it's just because the Spanish League is shit, but because Madrid are consistently on a higher level because they're always signing world class players.
Let me put it this way. The only two times a team that wasn't a crazy spender won the CL in the last 10 years was when Porto and Liverpool did it. 8/10 for the rich boys isn't bad at all.
I wouldn’t mind it if a sheik bought the club. The way I see it is they want to win and make more money. Well the only way to achieve both is by investing money into the team. Hiring the right staff and creating a winning atmosphere.
