I was very happy with it at the time, but looking at it now for its "scientific" value, I would have to agree it merits no more than a C. Nice exercise in professional writing though, probably the toughest and most gruelling piece of writing I ever did, sure spent a lot of time on it.
hmm.. that doesn't sound too good.. Essay-writing isn't exactly my forte.. :undecide:

Well, I have this thing with assignments that I tend to focus on things that aren't really central to the theme, hoping to score some bonus points. In this case, I was trying to write the best piece of English I'd ever done and make the language sound as professional as it was in the sources I read. Instead, I should have focused more on what exactly my argument was and used more sources in the process. I basically wrote the whole thing in a day (compared to weeks of reading sources), so you can probably tell the argument wasn't terribly strong. I got a bit carried away by the stories in the sources and lost track of my own rationale.

Ah, what you have to understand is that "International" is nothing but a front.. ;)
Are you saying that it's all a scam? Santa isn't real either? :dontcare:

Seriously, if you do it in history, you don't have to write it in English??

Oh.. Well, thanks for the input, anyways... I'll try not to get carried away..

I don't think so.. I can do it about Arabic history, or something like that..

Because it's supposed to be in English

Actually I wouldn't have any benefit from writing in a different language, English is my first language so to speak.

lol, yeah I know what you mean.. I'm that way too, in a way..

The only thing keeping me from writing it in English is that I'd have to work on it next year too.. And seeing the current 12th graders, in their state (let me tell you.. they're messed up), I don't want to end up like that..

I consider English to be my first language, but when I say that people get astonished.

I imagine I could bluff my way with writing but my oral English is still too weak to be convincing.

Well I haven't had my accent assessed in a while but that's not the issue. I just don't express myself too well.

Ah, maybe you don't practise it very often? I have to, for example.. Most of my classes, I'm the only Bahraini in there.. :lazy:

That's true of course, I don't get enough practice speaking it. But it's also a question of whom you speak it with, my IB class was just people like me and a couple of "natives", obviously your language gets a lot more polished talking to natives.

That's very true, indeed..

My signature is another example:
Aan het end gaat de Nobelprijs voor de vriendschap naar jou. Dan misverstond ik je, maar vergat je nooit

means:
At the end, the Nobelprice for the friendship goes to you. Then I misunderstood you, but never forgot you.
That's cool. I was able to figure it out without cheating. I had to sound it out in my head, but it's just like English with those characteristic long Dutch vowel sounds all over. :D
