They didn't need him to win but had he been in the squad, he might have done exactly what Ronaldo did and then they wouldn't need Ronaldo, get it? ;)
keywords - he might

If Lippi had chosen some other players to take the penaltys, Juve might have won the Champions League.

Might - such a silly and useless word IMO :D

The point is Jardel has the skill and experience to convert his chances, I mean look at his records dammit. Sure, he hasn't played much for Brazil but I really don't think Ronaldo was too special last summer, he was just lucky to be in that place. I mean he wasn't even fully fit!

Not as silly as the word "Kaliman" :D:p

Sure, nice records... in silly leagues. I just wanna see the guy in a good league and find out if he really is that great... that's all.

BTW, Kaliman rocks! :D

Denmark is a crap league, Portugal isn't. Porto performed in the CL on a regular basis while Jardel was there, also winning the league 4 times in a row (and he was the top scorer each year). Well what do you know, the season after he left, they lost it to Sporting. Jardel also held the record of most goals scored in a CL season (along with Del Piero, Raul and Rivaldo I think) until Ruud set a new record this season.

Jardel was a superstar in Portugal, I think it's fair to say he proved himself enough to play for a big club.

I never meant to say that Portugal's league is as poor and crappy as the danish. What I mean is that it doesn't even come close to La Liga, EPL or Serie A.

I just wanna see him play as good in one of those... and I might just kneel down before the awesome goal king as you guys.

kaliman i know what u mean. the turkish and portugese leagues are good leagues with teams that perform very well in europe but the leagues that get the attention are the top 3 while the rest are marginalised. we need to see them overthrown.

even the bundesliga seems to have kicked itself out.

So the CL is not an adequate measure?

I'm not a big fan or anything but credit where credit is due...

Porto in CL 99/00??? Is that the one you're thinking of?
Porto played against Molde, Olympiakos, Hertha and Sparta... I can imagine he scored alot of goals against them... And I must say... wow!

I think Jardel is a case where he wasn't given the chance rather than he wasn't good enough. The guy scored wonderful goal against Real when he played for Gala, and has a tendency to play game of his life against Milan.:D. Beside, I think he deserves his place more than Scolari favorite "Luizao" who incidentally played sh!t whenever he was given chance in the WC.;).

I picked up somewhere one of you guys say that the Portuguese League isn't top class, which I agree, therefore, since Jardel plays for a portuguese club he won't make it in other leagues.

Why do you all want Deco so much then?

Well, I never said he couldn't make it... I just want to see it. He's been bumming around the smaller leagues all his life.

Hopefully Deco will not stay. He should challenge himself.

    haha, kalle give up :D

jardel is absolute quality, he proved that in the CL....and even if he played in the Liga or Serie A or EPL, im sure he woulda scored a lot too, common, have you actually seen him play..i saw him in one match (he scored two, cant remember against who) when he was at porto...masterfull finishing

but now i think it's too late for him..he's having so much problems with his life and all, it'll take atleast one full season to kick back into full form..

i wouldnt mind changing him for Salas btw ;)
