Yeah, thats a self-made nickname, dude was alll about being mysterious and stoic, just using funny pseudonyms (monco was reference to his overly left handedness, using it so much he was "one armed") or letting peeps to refer to him as whatever. No official name given for the character ever, hence the moniker the man with no name.
