Many moons ago, I was waiting for my car at the BMW service center waiting room. Across the room, sat an old granny changing her grandson's dirty diaper. A short while later the service rep came over to tell her that her car was ready. So this old lady who could barely walk and was also carrying her grandson gets into this hideous colored 2 door M3 [presumably a stickshift]. And here was my wife wanting a minivan. Unbelievable.

Heres a good looking version of one
Agreed.

But with the X5 it has been a point of debate. Many people feel it's too small on a car that big. But if you make it bigger like on the XM or something it's just grotesque. I think the BMW design language is just awkard for those types of cars.

Volvo has had the opposite problem in my opinion. The grille looks good on an XC90, ridiculous on an XC40.

The Macan drives really nicely and I love its interior. Too bad it doesn’t have a heads-up display and the rear leg room is too tight.
Are you talking about the ICE Macan or the new electric Macan (which supposedly has more space in the back)?

The old Macan is a lovely car. It's good looking, it's sporty, but perhaps most importantly for what it is: it's very comfortable. For passengers in the front row as well. But you can't even fit small children in the back as their seats would push against yours. If you want to transport a family in a Porsche, you need a Cayenne.

Have you looked at the Audi Q5? Nice interior and a decent all round package. Not quite as engaging to drive as the Macan or the X3.

I did, but I think it's a pretty bland car. As you rightfully point out, it's not as engaging as the X3. The Macan is in a different realm imo.

Personally I chose a Stelvio, because it handles great (arguably even better than the Macan) and people don't react negatively to Alfa Romeo the way they do towards Porsche or BMW, but of course that car does have real flaws. It's pretty stiff for an SUV, the interior is nice but archaic and it's suprisingly difficult to manoeuvre in underground parking lots. I understand this is due to the way the weels are set up, but I still believe this should be improved for a car of this calibre.

If I was able to afford I would have picked GLC 450d that the engine is way better than Q5 and exterior design of Q5 with curved display looks ugly IMO.

I traded in my Q3 for a Q5 recently and I’m pretty happy with it. Really love the ride and power on this one.

Agreed, it’s the perfect combo of sporty luxury and performance

It's a good looking car and I'm sure the build quality is great. That's why you buy an Audi after all.

It's different in the US, but in the Benelux it's one of the most popular cars and that's why I said it's a bit bland. It's a solid car, but it doesn't really stand out.

Makes sense, but they do stand out here, at least to me. Most people have SUV's from Tesla, BMW, Kia, and Jeep around these parts. Of course, lots of trucktards out here as well who spend $80k on a Dodge Ram.
