After four weeks of vacation I told my wife that I miss work. The past week was intense vacationing and yesterday back to work.

It seems that I don't miss it quite that much though. Waiting for a new vacay now.
I was gone 5 and half weeks from work. I foolishly told my work friends and family I missed work.

Took my first week back to remember why that notion was idiotic lol.

I was just missing some of my co workers it seems. Social habits. Not the work itself.

I’m going on vacay next week (hopefully)
Bermuda triangle juju will let you come this time?

Hope the wifey is negative this time bro.

I need vacation soon

Full month or 2 weeks?

I have relatives in US, and they usually say their vacay is 2 weeks. That's crazy to me.

They shocked when I say ours is 4-6 weeks (4 weeks is standard, 5-6 weeks for some management peeps in some companies).

I don't hate what I do now, honestly I have it very good compared to where I was for sure. But there just isn't much that I'd like to have to do for 40 hours a week for x amount of years straight.

Another one of the great things about all the PTO you get in Europe (mine is about 5 weeks/year) is that it happens so often among everybody, nobody bats an eye if you want to take time off.

In the US it is so rare and precious, sometimes it feels like you’re appealing the Supreme Court to get a specific week off.

In the UK this is true aside from school holidays, where you are basically a goblin if you are childless and try to take time off.

Been In France for a year and was surprised that most people take 4 weeks of holidays at a time.....and everyone takes it at the same time of the year lol. Not used to it coming from Australia.
We close down shop for 3 weeks in the summer here. Last 3 weeks of july we only have minimal staff to keep our platforms running. 250 people take vacation at the same time.

Office jobs can allow more, it’ll just be unpaid
    Correct.
    Unlimited PTO scam
    That shit is a scam.

    That would be fucking heaven.

But Gregger is right, you take a week at a time here and the employer often times guilts you into feeling like you're doing something wrong.

My company offers 4 weeks of vacation plus the week between Xmas and New Years. That’s probably pretty rare in the US.

The problem throughout my career isn’t lack of available PTO. I just didn’t use it to its fullest extent every year. Very bad habit bc I was so “dedicated” to my career. Took a long time to realize importance of mental health re:work

the simplest notion that I am not that important where if i am gone for a few weeks per year that the firm will collapse lel

I never let a good vacation go to waste, but I’m one of those lazy, European-like Americans.

Or I’m just not that important.

Tech companies offer that a lot, especially if they are in sales (specifically between NY and Consumption Day).
I definitely do not miss working year-end closes when I was in finance back in the day. Just a miserable thing, working around New Years.
