I don't know much about him either. I found some clips on the youtube that are in a philosophical line, seemed that he knew stuff so I thought he was more of a popular name in the US.

I came across some book on How to Read and Why which I found intriguing considering his ideas of deep reading. Reminded me of an American literal critic and ex professor at Yale called Harold Bloom who I really respect.

Lol I also read that as a kid plus it's one the rare things I had on a CDs back in the day, it was Britannica and I was really shocked with shitload of knowledge on one place.
I just listened to some videos about some people talking about it. The ideas themselves look really solid and what I think of it myself on how to approach books, going into details and analysis, I think it's really worth it. I find that stuff really interesting (but I guess not everyone is into that kind of stuff). Plus I see that he's really into Greek philosophy which is a plus. I tried to look for a book but unfortunately we didn't translate him nor Harold Bloom. But I could pick one I'd probably go for Harold Bloom's book. I listened to him for hours and multiple times on youtube. He's really old school but I enjoyed listening to him (shortly, he's a type of guy that recommends Shakespeare as a foundation of everything, but then also all of the big names like Goethe, Tolstoy, Cervantes and others. And he shits on shit literature so there's some big respect from me). Hopefully we translate that some day.

Dang, we translated that one too! Thanks a lot. I will probably buy it when I get my next pay check. Her books are more expensive than others, almost double priced, but there are many pages with tougher translation I assume, like Pynchon. My birthday is next month. Last year I had a shortlist (of 20-30 books) that I gave to my friends so they don't fuck up. If I don't buy both I might add one on the list for this year lol.
I actually look forward to that. I think I already read plenty (compared to a mere mortal) so different stuff will just open up new boarders. It's August 15th and my 32nd birthday. If I had one wish, other than being healthy, it'd be a job that doesn't have second and third shift which I find (social) life ruining for very little benefits.
Btw, my short story that was published this year was presented and analyzed in a high school class. Kids & teacher really liked it and it was such an amazing thing to hear as I had no idea that one kid wanted to analyze it (he found about it when her mom gave him to read it lol).
