Yes indeed. I gotta thank you because this is the first place I learned about Henri, and I could beat the crowd in buying a generator. I expect us to lose power for a week or two at least. North shore of LI has infrastructure similar to Bangladesh.

Good stuff. The track can still change obviously, so hopefully it misses. But honestly, while the intensity may be overdone, I would still be concerned with this if I was in NYC. The Ukie model has this thing pulling a Sandy and hooking left at the last minute. I'm actually a little surprised I'm not hearing more about this this morning.

8 inches of rain in NYC - now THAT would be a load of fun.

My colleagues are like what hurricane?
this is an email from my wife’s colleague, who is a meteorologist:

As you may have heard, tropical storm Henri is to the east of the SE US coast. As it interacts with the upper trough it is going to make its turn to north today... and it will be passing over the warm Gulf waters so it will likely intensify to a cat1-2 hurricane tomorrow (Sat), then approaching southern New England early Sun AM.

This is a very dangerous storm. It's current "most likely" track is towards southern New England (RI area), but the trend in the forecast has been westward.. There are now models that have landfall over central and even western LI as a cat2 storm. NHC has issued a hurricane watch for central and eastern LI (tropical storm watch to west), but even these watches and warnings may have to be expanded westward if the model trend continues....

With potential impacts Sunday AM, this is the time to prepare for the storm with property and supplies... The winds could knock out power on LI north shore for a week or two with all the trees over power lines. A full moon is coming up this weekend, so higher than normal tides, so there could be extensive flooding on LI east end, Port Jeff with north wind, and south shore points west if storm tracks west. The worst now looks like Sunday AM to afternoon, but sometimes these storm accelerate to north, so all prep should be done by early Sat evening.

to me, this sounds like she’s saying to freak out and go buy toilet paper, hatchets and other necessary things like that

That’s a he. He usually is pretty accurate with his warnings. Spot on with predictions on Isaias last year.
thankfully LI people don’t seem to be too concerned.
