I'll never understand how anyone could live in the south with weather like that in between hurricanes.
Bro, I don’t understand how you guys can live in freezing weather where you have to shovel snow to free your car. Many moons ago I was in Boston in the middle of winter and it wasn’t fun.

Also, life moves in slow motion in the south. Southern hospitality is something to cherish.
Believe it or not, some of the nicest people I’ve met were hill Billys in Arkansas.

Man, I can't wait for winter. I love snow and that cold, dry air, can't take the heat and humidity at all :p.

I believe it. I think it's more of a rural vs city thing, but people here are nice too the vast majority of the time. New Englanders with money are the worst though.

You can always put more clothes on. Once you start flaying your flesh and exposing your vital organs, there's little else you can keep taking off.

So I know this girl that lives in the US. She works as a teacher (art). Basically, I realized that she's not even earning much and from what I know it seems she always struggles with bills while expensive stuff is out of her reach.

Are all teachers paid equally or maths teacher earns more? Kinda surprised when I heard it. I always thought Americans earn quite a lot when it comes to majority of jobs with university degrees.
mangers in fast food restuarants get paid same or even more in many cases

Planning my escape from CA but I'm not sure yet where to go.

Austin, Boulder, Boise, SLC areas all seem appealing. I don't want to live in the middle of a bigger city but I wouldn't want to be more than an hour drive from one.

You live in SLC right? How is that?

criteria in a new location are cost of living, availability of outdoor activities, reasonable weather, low crime/bullshit, growing job market, relaxed firearm laws.

I suppose right now job market is most key considering how fucked that got from Corona.

it’s fun, rising cost of living but not too bad yet. Thriving local brew community, tons of people interested in active stuff, decent restaurants, close to rest of the west. Only negatives are Mormons and poorly planned development

a lot of people have migrated here from California due to our tech boom. The three biggest industries are tech, healthcare and construction
