Have any of you guys actually played Fallout yet?

I could easily look past the prehistoric engine if the gameplay is good.
Yes, alone briefly. I can see it getting very "lonely" and somewhat empty without having people to play with. But keep in mind, I'm only in the starting area of a big map. So far I've encountered plenty of people on servers though, but never really tried to interact with anyone so I don't know how that would go. I did get a bunch of useful free stuff from some kind people after just starting though, I thought that was cool. There's a heavy emphasis on finding items and crafting, so that's new. The level up system is entirely different, as well as the perk cards that come with it. Diseases and mutations have been added that affect stats, as well as a system where you need to eat and drink water while balancing the rads that they give you. With that, as you can imagine, aid items become A LOT more valuable and important now.

To sum it up, other than the obvious cooperation aspect, it's a lot more of a survival game. Without NPCs, the environment and scattered holotapes have to tell the story. It's a different experience, but I'm liking it so far. I could understand why some people wouldn't be into it though.
