BA in Economics, BS in Finance. Where I made the mistake was I took a billing/low level accounting job because it was the first thing that came and I needed the money to pay loans. Now I have a higher paying billing job in a big company, but even though it's very complex and involved it's still only a "billing associate" title, so I get pigeon-holed into that alone. It's hard to break into a new field for some reason.

So essentially, I have nothing. But my loans are all paid off, so there's that at least.

What is it that you do, if you don't mind me asking?

I'm considering quitting and going back to get a programming certificate/degree because there just seems to be no way forward. But I'm hesitant to start at square 1 again at the age of almost 27. I have to find out if the excelsior scholarship applies to me too, because fuckkkk accruing more debt.

I started out of college as a purchasing specialist and am now a contracts advisor for Chevron.

I had no previous experience took no internships in college.

Its boring but im making more money and working a lot less hours than my friends who went down the engineering route

If youre unhappy in finance then get out. 27 is in no way too late to change course

Finance and Economics, exactly what I'm studying now, considered dropping finance, but I've hear economics alone is very difficult find a job with, so ill just grind with it, only an extra year

27 is nothing mate, I'm the same age. I'm finishing my second masters, doing research this time. I'd say go for it, you're still in the race. I have colleagues who are in their 50s and I'm just impressed with their state of mind and motivation.

25k is still something, you can rent a nice place outside the big city, get a GSD to replace dumb and selfish friends and people in your life, believe me good dogs bring happiness and motivation. Get a simple part time job and dedicate the rest of your time to doing everything you love and anything you have been wanting to try. Then find a nice gal with a stable career, save to buy a house then make a family, easy enough or not lol

And AFL if you are interested in supply chain route i would recommend. Growing demand for it and not a lot of people with relevant degrees/ experience

A lot less competitive and stressful than i imagine finance would be and i havent worked a second of overtime or a weekend

With just a bachelors in finance? As long as the money is good and you don't hate it, that's great then.

My original plan was to hit 3 years so that I get fully vested in the company 401k (will be 2 next month) and then evaluate my options in more detail then. But I'll see, I have to research more thoroughly. It's not that I'm unhappy with it though, I just want to be able to survive.

What if an extra $500,000 is thrown in for you to swallow?

If you're going for a higher degree, economics can work. As for finance, try to get as specific as possible and get an internship in it. It's all bullshit though, just who you know.

I mean they do make drugs, it’s the combo between Pharma companies, corrupt doctors, and insurance companies that ruins everything.

I can highly recommend working for Novo Nordisk; they got a factory in Raleigh, NC (I think) Edit: Clayton, NC.

A few family members have worked there and they are a top company in terms of working hours, family, pay, benefits. I even believe the US part of the company is top notch in this regard.
