There's no biological reason why women couldn't be great scientists though.
Btw, some industries are only changing very recently with regards to women. Up until 10 years ago the vast majority of lawyers in Belgium for example was male. Today, there are far more young female lawyers than young male lawyers. In the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, women are just entering the workplace now.
But, even if the odds were stacked against them before, it is true that there have been very very few female writers and scientists.
