While on the east coast I'm joining a university protest to have the country named "Chad" renamed due to all the WASPy bros here not wanting their names associated in any way with the continent of Africa because of their own underlying racist associations
I believe the biggest exporters of popped-collar fashions do most of their business with Chad, so spot on, sir.

Some prefer Imperialism

I believe in Manifest Destiny
I prefer Beyoncé's solo work myself.

Speaking of people who've gone missing, you guys remember Woody? He disappeared a few months ago after telling us he's running away with his girlfriend due to her disapproving parents. He shut down his FB profile and his phones are off. I can't reach him, and haven't heard from him since then. No sign whatsoever of where he is. I don't even know any of his friends in Mumbai to check up on him.

Last night, Facebook reminded me of the time last year when I met him in Mumbai and hung out with him and his gf. I bloody miss that $#@!er now.
:(

I have a feeling he planned for that long time ago, so no one can reach them. I hope they are safe.

Woody if you are reading this, fuck you! I love you!

Back from Nicaragua. Beautiful country, lovely people, and amazing waves. The thing that struck me the most was their houses -- many of them are basically shacks, but they have no shortage of electricity or televisions. They also dress very nicely despite living in what most think as poverty. The climate along the coast was simply amazing, 95 degrees and sunny each day, to the point where you couldn't differentiate between days. The only cloud cover was the volcanic ash that was short-lived. Definitely thinking about property down there.

Sounds awesome.

A friend has a uninsulated fishing shack in Uruguay. I can see the temptation. Whole different way of living though.

All I would require is clean running hot water, high fidelity internet.

Both of which are tough to come by at times in NYC here in the year of our lord, 20 and 16

The world can be a weird place like that today. Last week I was talking to a refugee from Eritrea. You'd expect them to be pretty poor and perhaps they even are, but she was using the newest Samsung Galaxy. Last year I spoke to someone from Somalia who told me that most of her payments happen through a mobile service.

I don't mean to insult anyone, but you wouldn't expect someone who is basically living in a shack to keep track of her bank account with an iPhone.

Though in many parts of Africa, a smartphone is the only shot at having a bank account. It's more critical than the family car in some cases.

The majority owner and chairman of the Danish football club Brøndby IF created a profile on a Brøndby fansite (like tuz) and complained about the manager and some of the transfers. People found out who he was, and now the manager resigned and the whole club is a fucking chaos. It's insane. It would be like Agnelli creating a profile on tuz to complain about Allegri.

Most of Somalia's (and Kenya when I was there) banking services are done with mobile services. Litterally their wallets and bank accounts. Struck me as odd too at first, its an innovation and habits thats out of complete necessity, since access to stable ATMs and card machines in general arent that easy.

Recent refugee I met told me of cases where highroad bandits instead of just taking your valuables in middle of the bush, would swipe your cell and force peeps to transfer funds etc.
