But I know a lot of women who are frequently happier by themselves than without the loser guy of the moment, and I know a lot of guys who simply cannot function in this world without having some form of a girlfriend around at all times to keep their own demons at bay. So this is one area where I don't see a ton of gender bias.

If the women are all attached and a lot of the men aren't, you have to presume that a lot of men are merely duping their young girlfriends that they are in an exclusive relationship with them while they play multiple females the same way.

There's a little bit of the virginity paradox here. How are all these females being constantly hooked up while more men are not?

Sure, people cheat on each other all the time. But I have no evidence to suggest a gender bias that guys cheat that much more than women do. Both sexes are pretty guilty in this regard, and that shouldn't come as a shock.

Yeah, but you don't take into account that women could be socially smart enough to cheat and keep the relationship going, while if a guy would cheat it would inevitably be discovered and the relationship would be over. This means that if a woman decides to end a relationship, she will have options. The guy however usually ends up in a postapocalyptic nuclear war zone.

So the male perspective skew is that the woman may be cheating (or at least deep flirting/leading on other guys), but the guy is too clueless to notice and thus thinks she's formally "taken" when in reality she has already been playing the field. That I buy.
