I'm also thinking if she doesn't catch the sarcasm, that she might confront her friend about it and that would cause more problems. Aaron, is the friend someone you both work with too?

You've created a mess @Enron :D

Has she replied? She gone slash yo tires.
Nope. Not yet.

No, I don't actually work with either of them. They live in another town which is a two hour trip away. I only have to "work" with this girl because she's assisting on a project with another person in my office. But we have kind of the same group of friends and navigate similar networks because of the work we do. But I can easily avoid her.

If I need to I can just apologize and take the blame for the crazy. It's not that big of a deal. I just thought, might as well have some fun with this.

I would vote for this. I do think it might have been a low blow to call the best friend homely, but that is me assuming the friend has no idea what's going on and therefore shouldn't bear any of the insults.
Yeah, I done goofed. But I've gotten out of worse messes before.

Nice work!

I sense something exactly like this had gone on with you. It's good to hear you're starting to put all the negative of that experience to positive use, because there definitely is positive use. As they say, the real failure isn't in the trying (and not necessarily succeeding) -- it's in the giving up and no longer trying.

Oddly enough, your employer shares a lot of the blame in this. While they were cool to bring you in, it was a failure on their part to position you for a role that you were insufficiently screened for. You had a role too, but as someone who has hired and fired hundreds of people over the years, the role of your employer in this is pretty glaring. That said, on the upside it seems they did some real good here: they recognized you enough as a raw quality employee, but realized they probably miscast you in the wrong role. That's a good sign for both you and them.

Good luck on the next steps, Dhee.
Thanks, G!

I'm not starting to, but already have put the negatives of that to positive use. And that was the point I was trying to make with that post. Many of the things I did through the course of the year all had an indirect, subconscious connection to that event. :)

Yea, they were to blame to a big extent, which is something I realized too. But it was outta my control and I got the impression that things weren't going to change there anytime soon. I'm glad they gave me another chance, especially considering I had already interviewed for that same role 6 months prior. :D
