Truth be told, the closest I've perhaps ever came to being a gay man was often getting in social gatherings of all girls where I was the only guy.

I'm not saying I was making tea for Clyde Frog or anything, but being surrounded by pretty girls doing "girlish" things at times has its appeals. It's the only way I can tolerate Jane Austin, for one.

Really? There seems to be a love/hate with that one, and with Northanger Abbey. Persuasion is her most mature, and I think NA is her funniest. But many do consider Persuasion to be her best.
