Violence to tell a story works for me. Violence primarily for shock value rarely does. I think I'd need to be more of a LOTR fanboy. That whole fantasy genre blows up on my suspension of disbelief launch pad and it's hard to draw me in.

funny thing is it draws primarily from actual historical events, doubt theres any amount of fictional violence that would match the reality we live in

i think that's a frequent criticism of how the show uses "unnecessary violence" for "shock value but i disagree. It adds to the realism by creating a setting which displays the everyday violence and brutality that would certainly exist in a world where people live like its the middle ages. the constant abuses of the poor by the highborns and their utter indifference towards it is a one of the shows most prevalent themes. to cut out the violence, say if it was more like LOTR, would take away from the realism of the show imo

I kinda agree. I think the violence adds to the authenticity. I wouldn't expect people to not indulge in their basic urges back then. Hell, there's people who still do it now.

Yes. Old countries, smaller cities, etc. You won't see many skyscrapers over there, and the ones you will see aren't as tall as the ones here. The ones that come close are usually built recently also. So yeah, the skyscrapers in US are way bigger, only Dubai overtakes them because apparently they've been trying to make that place a tourist destination for the longest time now.
