Ok, that's one. Only because I can relate to the backwards nature of the characters involved, whereas shows like friends, how I met your mother etc just make me cringe

I don't find most of today's sitcoms very funny, I can't stand the "mockumentary" trend either.
Word to that. I found it curious that I saw an interview with TCM's Robert Obsorne yesterday, who knows about as many movies as anybody. And when asked (by Alec Baldwin) about his all-time favorite comedy movies, he named This Is Spinal Tap. Which is a terrific movie but a massive influence on the mockumentary-as-comedy trend. (Osborne said most comedies are too "slapstick" and he prefers wit.)

Meanwhile, one of the most tedious comedies in my book is Waiting for Guffman -- made by the very same people. Perhaps the mockumentary ended its run for me circa 1996.
