You need insane grades to get into the top US schools for free though. Something like 65 people applying for NYC already and they only take in three (?). Hope you get to do it, though.
Let me put it like this, I would love it if I had the drive and ambition in me to even think about NYU or other places like that. Was hoping that would've changed once my masters started, but it's really more of the same for me. Now I'm hoping that it will change for my PHD

Sadly, NYU and Austin are the two most universities with most applications per slot. UCLA is easier because there are plenty of spots available for University of California. University of Arizona is the only one with more spots than applications. Ideally, I should probably go for one of the "easier" ones for the third spot in case I don't get in on the other ones.
